Scully and Mulder, newly reconciled over their myriad creative and contractual differences, head to the Pacific northwest to track where an agent had gone missing under mysterious circumstances years before only to return profoundly changed.
Once there, they uncover the small logging town's painful history of homicide, insanity, prostitution, drug trafficking, and general mayhem.
The soon discover that Agent Cooper, who famously solved the tragic murder of Laura Palmer in the early nineties and is now an Assistant Director of the FBI, has been inhabited by the same malevolent entity responsible for her death in the first place!
Scully and Mulder reflect upon the years-long stagnancy of their respective careers, and the choke down their pride long enough to work together while somehow including Reyes and Doggett, who likewise haven't exactly been turning away tons of scripts.
The four agents venture into the Black Lodge and are forced to face all kinds of weird realities:
Why does Mulder look just like a cross-dressing FBI agent? Why does The Man From Another Place look just like the guy who was eaten by the conjoined twin in that town full of Carnies? Can Agent Cooper be coaxed out of his cushy life among Desperate Housewives? Can Albert be pulled away from his work for the coroner's office and... Oh, wait. Can David Lynch be persuaded to direct another foray into the universe that was so hamstrung and botched by ABC's inept management?
These and other questions await only our investigation!
