So my cat walks in the back door... making that noise...
that indicates "Hey Dad! Look what I brung ya!"

sigh...

I go into the kitchen and there he is, all happy, with a bird in his mouth. I shoo him out the back door, then go to pick him up to get him to drop the bird so I can put it in the garbage.

But instead of falling to the ground - the bird flew away just as normal as could be.

Yay bird! I hope he wasn't punctured. There was no blood anywhere.

1. My cat is perpetually fetching me live mice
..or chipmunks. She drops 'em, they stand up on their hind legs, give her a look
and run like hell. I hold her back from chasing them, which doesn't win me any points with her, but who cares?
I think she's never mastered the death bite, silly thing.

4. I've had that happen before. To mice and birds. I had one cat that
just never did damage to little critters but brought them inside. Once a bird flew around the house and settled on a doorway. The little guy let me pick him up and set him free out the window. Don't know how that bird knew I was safe. But he knew.

6. I wish that happened yesterday
Ben came to the door with a bunny in his mouth. When I threatened to hit him with a broom and he dropped it, it did not get up and run away.

7. You're lucky! When I lived on my mom's ranch, my cat used to bring me
the butts of field mice AND she wanted me to praise her and possibly, to enjoy them with her. :scared:

10. oh,
this cat brings me mole-heads all the time. He's a real murderer when it comes to small mammals, but for some reason, he's onl killed one bird in his life. The rest got away.

12. my cats give their mice to one of the dogs
it's awful, he carries them around in his mouth like toys.
once he dropped a dead mouse on the ground, and then paused and then dropped a live one on the ground right after; he'd had both in his mouth.

sometimes he will carry them around still alive and they will be squeeking and squealing, I have to give him food to get him to drop them so I can catch them and take them off and set them free. He can't seem to understand they are living creatures, but even if they are dead he will play with them for days.

13. Kitty Mafioso
I found the severed head of a sparrow on the living room floor one morning. I guess the girls had been watching The Godfather and were trying to send me a message...
