A freeper just walked into my spider's web.
Edited on Wed Jul-11-07 09:04 PM by Zodiak Ironfist
Mooohoohoohoohahahaha!!!!

Okay, as some of you know, I play bass covers of rock bands on youtube. All kinds of stuff, but I put ONE Rage Against the Machine Song "Bullet in Your Head" on there and made a poltical statement at the end of it (held up a sign that said "Save America-Impeach Bush"). I feel that one cannot play Rage unless one makes a political statement, as well.

Anyways, it's been on youtube for some time, and today a freeper decided he was going to come in and start "schooling me". The results so far are more than entertaining. I haven't engaged a freeper on the internet in years.

Here is the link to my video....look at the comments below. This idiot thought he could claim to be a Marine and tell me what for (as they typically do). He got more than he bargained for, and tried to raise the white flag....and I snapped his pole in half and told him off some more. Refreshing.

Anyways, for your entertainment:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypGTFr5bH5c

Feel free to chime in if you wish. Its my video, so it is my territory.

 So true.

I love reading the youtube comments, it's refreshing. It looks like he bowed out of the argument. Thanks for the cicada info the other day as well. :hi:

Felt good. And it looks nice and matches the mood of my video.

I do not do too much parleying with the other side if you cannot tell. VenusRising keeps me well away from trouble, and I am not the type to hold my tongue. I'm a rebel....probably not more emotionally mature than the 14 year old in your post.

12. I semi-disagree with you on one point
I've long been an advocate for abolishing the multi-party system because far too many things that need doing don't get done because of party lines. I don't think we need more than one political party to preserve debate. We'd merely debate on the issues themselves, rather than our party's line on them.

(Note that I'm not saying anyone here doesn't debate purely on issues. I'm talking about Capitol Hill.)

Great smackdown, though.

16. Are you sure we disagree?
Edited on Wed Jul-11-07 09:34 PM by Zodiak Ironfist
My opinion only holds under only the current party paradigm.

I would love to go to a system where only issues are discussed and partisanship is set aside. It certainly is what our forefathers envisioned when fashioning the Constitution (even though partyless didn't last very long).

Democracy cannot exist without debate...the vehicle of that debate (party, principle, or just facts) is variable. You have a point that the present system is riddled with errors and another may be more ideal.

20. He's back!!!!!
Edited on Wed Jul-11-07 10:06 PM by Zodiak Ironfist
Wonder what he's gonna say?

Here we go:

Rage isn't liberal. They're anti-government. They wear the Communist star on their sleeves. I really have better things to be doing. And I'm so fucking sick of your "I have so much knowledge to crush any argument you bring." attitude. And I don't give a fuck what your "credentials" are. Just look at how you've slanderously attacked my opinions and brushed them off as stupid compared to your own. That's not "debate".

My response was tripartite:

Rage is most certainly liberal. Anarchism is a branch of the "liberal" side that features the opposition to world economic powers that crush poor, hard-working people like the G-8. And your argument about communists being anti-government is unfortunately not accurate. Communists believe in the government's power to distribute economic commodities...that means big government.

The rest of your argument is that I am being mean to you. Remember, you started this whole exchange by stating that you find it "funny how anti-bush people don't know why they are anti-Bush". Now you got schooled and are hurt about it. Once again I must reiterate I never used credentials in this argument...you did.

You got schooled because you do not know much about politics or the state of this nation currently. Therefore your opinion is only worth so much in a debate. That is the nature of debate. Reason wins...empty rhetoric does not. Sorry you lost, but that is democracy....not slander. And as far as slander...still waiting for that liberal burning a soldier in effigy.

Score:
Self-righteous asshole (that's me) - 1
Freeptard with no clue - 0

Thanks for playing!

that is pititful his response. If you have facts to back up what you are saying then he is calling "no fair"? He believes what he believes because he believes it, and if you can back up what you are saying you are somehow 'abusing' him. Too bad you can't post a picture of the waaambulance on there, lol.

I love Rage against the Machine and I'm 41 years old.

I doubt that guy is actually a Marine. I was never in the Marines(11 years in the Army as an officer 1988-1999), but I know a lot of Marines, and very few Marines talk like this guy.

I saw you mentioned Toby Keith. I know that you don't like him and a lot of Democrats don't, but I do like most of his music(not the warmongering stuff). He is actually a Democrat. Yes he supported Bush in 2004 which sucks, but he also campaigned for the now governor of Oklahoma, Brad Henry, who is a Democrat. He agrees with Democrats on most economic issues and some of the social ones as well. Just wanted to point that out.

My father was a Master Seargent in the USAF, so I grew up a military brat and know "vaguely" what sacrifices the military entails, as well as the lifestyle. I also know that the US military, by and large, takes their jobs too seriously to act as armchair warriors.

30. Active duty Technical Sergeant here
I doubt that guy is a Marine. Those writing skills (while overlooking his freeper beliefs) are definitely not those of a typical Marine.

Somewhat recently my First Sergeant gave me a hard time because I was reading one of Michael Moore's books at the food court on base. He asked me why am I even reading stuff like that. My reply was:
1) Nobody forced me to read this book
2) He makes several good points
3a) He has the right to his opinion
3b) Regardless if I agree with his opinion, as a fellow American I will fight to the death to protect his right to express his opinion. If he goes through the steps to publish a book...sells it in a bookstore...and I use my personal money to buy it...what's so wrong with that?

33. excellent. I enjoy your bass work a lot
and I have to laugh and wonder why so many freepers think "its funny that most people who say they don't like Bush can't come up with a real reason for their dislike. It's simply a trend to MOST young Americans."

I don't get it. Are they really not paying attention? Really? Hell, as much as I hate the Bush family, it's because of the things they do and say, not because it's a trend or someone told me to. Ironically, the Iran-Contra scandal is one of the things which orginally got me interested in politics and made me question some of the conservative crap from my family.

Anyway, thanks for the post. I have some of my new stuff on myspace, but no videos at the moment - http://www.myspace.com/donschlotman

and you play all of those instruments? Sheesh.

What style do you call that music...it's not really country, not really bluegrass, but it has that American backcountry sound.

As far as the freeper is concerned, when his opening salvo is the premise that people like me do not know anything bad about Bush, the possibilities are endless. He's lucky I only had 500 characters for the first response.

35. thanks. Not sure what I would call it
my music tastes, much like my ancestry, is mixed and kind of all over the board. There's definitely an Americana feel, and some of the stuff has some latin in it too, both of which I grew up hearing from my family.

The live band I play with is kind of Talking Heads/Devo/The Clash/Elvis Costello vein, and this new stuff I'm working on is my attempts to slow down, be less of a spaz and get back to my roots - my dad played folk acoustic, classical spanish, and bluegrass banjo when i was growing up and is who first got me interested in music. The hardest part is trying to convince myself to play slower than 120 bpm, although I listen a lot of languid stuff, from early Tom Waits to Portishead to old country.

Anyway, always good to "meet" other musicians with progressive attitudes.

here's my band's myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/theunpossibles (it may be just unpossibles without the "the" - I can't check it at work)

Cool stuff....and I definitely see where you get the Elvis Costello. :)

I played in a couple of bands around here, but didn't fall in love with the scene. Not really the fault of the scene, but the musicians I played with...buttholes.

So now I play cover tunes in my living room. Goofy, but satisfying.

Keep on Rockin' and Billyin'
