Odor Of The SKUNK!
:puke:

Have seen 4 skunks in the neighborhood. Animal control is to come out tomorrow to set traps to catch and release them.

Woke up in the middle of the night (not long after crashing) skunk :puke: Today the house still has a faint odor of this.

I will be very glad to get those bastids out of here, they are disturbing my beautiful mind :P

:grr:

May have to air out the house, but it is too damned hot!

1. A few years ago...
both my dogs got sprayed. Got the musk in my hair, on my clothes, etc.

Dry heaving at 5 am while trying to clean up a throughly depressed dog is, well, interesting.:P

7. Oh Yuck!
These have been seen all over the neighborhood by now. At least 4.

When I was a kid I went camping with boy scouts and we woke up one morning and a skunk was in the tent. Somehow, luckily, we got the skunk out of the tent without spraying. I have no idea how that happened.

Freaky experience to see that striped thing running around in a tent with about 10 boys in it.

:hi:

4. Next time your dog goes playing with pole cats, spray him/her thouroughly with
tomato juice until he/she is sopping wet with it.

It cuts the oder. Then you can spay it out with water and shampoo.

I'll tell you one thing SPK...
if it happens, don't get your dog wet...with anything. The wetness will lock the musk smell into their fur for about a year. Use a skunk neutralizer solution at most, and then get them to a groomer.

5. I have skunks living under my house and I don't mind the odor at all....
They used to come in and eat cat food in my kitchen. I like them, actually.

8. Some people aren't bothered by the odor
they don't live under the house, the crawl space is well covered.

I do not like the smell :puke:

15. I'm with you!
I can smell skunk almost before my dog does! Icky! We must be in a rabid year because we haven't had that many this year. I think the cycle is very seven or so years. My dad's dog got sprayed last year and I had to bathe her. My clothes smelled horrible! I put them in a bucket with a bottle of hydrogen peroxide, a few tablespoons of baking soda and a tablespoon of dish soap. let them sit in the sun on the back porch for two days...washed and air dried...no smell. Of course I swore I could still smell it on me for a week! EWWWW!

9. We have some that eat at the birdfeeder
They help themselves to the seeds that spill on the ground.

There is nothing cuter than baby skunks rolling around playing with each other. They're like kittens.

*googling for photo*

heh. A lot like kittens: http://www.ctv.ca/generic/WebSpecials/weekly_photo_gallery/june16_gallery/image01.html

11. I might feel differently if the odor were intense --
say, if I or any of my animals were sprayed, but otherwise, I like the faint odor of skunk. But again - it's usually not up-close-and-personal for any length of time.

14. until you get a full dose
then you don't smell it anymore, it becomes a physical assault on all of your senses. This is from a few weeks ago:

He never sprayed in the house, but out back when the dogs spotted him he would invariably let go. Had to dispatch him, but was kind of sad about it.
