So my dog's been helping me with the gardening.
This is our goofy collie again. I should have expected it, they're bred for working and intelligence.

He's been supervising me as I weed and water my vegetables. Then he goes through and inspects my work, stopping to occasionally chew on a weed that I missed. This morning he pulled one up by the roots and deposited it over on the compost heap. He makes an occasional mistake; I've lost two cucumber plants and a bell pepper plant so far this week. But I figure a week or two of intensive training with the garden hose and a taser, and he won't be making those kinds of mistakes again.

So the moral of this story is: border collies are taking away the jobs our old farts don't want to do.

1. i swear my Border is smart enough that if I could teach him to 10 key
he could support the whole family

what a good dog you have to help you out in the garden. and a taser isn't necessary, he'll get on to it

:hi:

3. My Boston Terror is my gardening "supervisor."
Edited on Mon Jun-25-07 06:46 PM by fifthgendem
She lays in the doorway to our apartment and watches my work to make sure it meets her strict gardening standards.

She's management only, no dirty hands for her!

That and she pouts because she's not allowed outdoors without her leash.

10. Yes, they are, and she knows it, too.
Maggie's my third BT, and I don't think I'll ever have another breed. They're the best.

4. Our Border Collie mix smiles.
I mean she really smiles, not just that panting, look like a smile thing. When we come home from being gone she greets us with smiles. I don't know if it's the Border Collie or whatever else she is that enables her to do that. Maybe she's just damn happy to see us. I know I'm always damn happy to see her!

6. Ah, mine too.
He's got big lips. Maybe that's got something to do with it.

11. a good friend of mine had a Chesapeake retriever mix and she
smiled, too. An extremely neat, though very very stubborn, dog. As soon as you'd walk in the door she'd start to grin.

12. Maybe our dog is part
Chesapeake retriever then too. It seems like the smiling dogs would have to have something different going on with the muscles in their mouths in order to be able to smile when they are very happy.

5. Border Collies are the best!
Our sweet Border Collie, Cody, passed away two years ago. I am constantly amazed at how smart these guys are! I still swear to this day that Cody understood English!!

9. Mr 'pede said he asked the poodle
to fold the laundry and put it away this afternoon, but the dog didn't do it. Tried to make him feel guilty by saying now mommie has to do it. Yeah, right. I think Mr Retiree can handle it tomorrow.
