Photoshop experts... Let's get to the bottom of this Hillary pic

I say the photo is shopped to make the Soldier look like he's either crossing his fingers or shooting the bird... What do you say? BTW: Snopes says the info is incomplete....

Not necessarily because of the quality of the Photoshopping skills, but because it looks physically impossible unless the guy has bizarrely jointed fingers.

Try crossing the middle finger of your left hand over the index finger. Can you get your middle finger to bend all the way over like that? And if you can, does your index finger peek out like that, or does it point all the way down? Try crossing your middle and index fingers and then bending both of them - I couldn't do it.

Looks weird to me.

I cannot cross my middle finger over my index finger and THEN bend those crossed fingers!

in order to bring the middle over the index (which I have to do with my right hand) bending the index is impossible for me.

You can't have your 4th finger down and your third finger up like that. You'll break something. The tendon's don't go that direction.

and it looks pretty realistic too.. altough the index finger looks abit weird you can't really bend it that much in that position, it IS a photoshop because the middle finger knuckle is too low and you can see it's smeared but it IS a good one

But, my question is, why would a soldier even consider doing that in a public photo? I thought military were obliged to respect civilians?

Look at his hand as if it was photoshopped- look at the knuckles. Look at where his third knuckle (middle finger knuckle) should be (800% zoomed). It's grayed. On top of that, right in the middle of his fingers there's a line going directly across where the color tone changes dramatically.

It looks as if what is being passed off as his middle finger in the picture is actually his index finger. His middle finger has been taken out (and the knuckle grayed out), and the index finger moved slightly toward the "middle" of the hand. Also look at the picture's middle finger knuckle (what's being passed off as the middle finger's knuckle)- it's been shifted too far back. Middle finger knuckles point out from the hand MORE prominently than the ring-finger knuckle. This middle finger knuckle looks recessed.

jpeg is a lossy compression algorithm, it can, and does change colors in a way that you won't notice until you zoom in, that's one reason why it is able to compress photographic images so well.
