1. What good news!
I'm so happy for all of you!

Kitties are the best!

And I know how good their lives will be, living with you!

9. No, financial services.
He is making moves to get out of financial services altogether (he has applied for a gubmint job).

10. Ohhhh... well I hope that works out for him!
We went through a layoff ourselves starting in December. Hang in there... luckily the job market isn't as bad as it was four or five years ago.

11. True
But the uncertainty is not a comfortable feeling.

14. No it's not comfortable. :-(
My hub got laid off two weeks before Christmas, although he wasn't officially in layoff status until mid-January. People do not hire around the holidays, so he really didn't get a lot of good job leads until mid or late February. He had three job offers by late March.

Oddly the hardest time was March as he attended second, sometimes third job interviews, knowing that he had a shot but waiting... and waiting... for the calls back. But when everything finally panned out, it came as a large wave. It was really quite eyeopening.

My hugs to you. PM me anytime if you need some moral support.

13. He has like three irons in the fire right now
One that he ultimately wants, but it is for the gubmint so the hiring process will likely be fairly long.

I am mostly at peace with it (and in receptive mode), but I do have the moments of creeping worries.

16. Wow, three? That's great. Yeah, gubmint jobs can take forever
to get, so I'm glad he has a couple of other possibilities.

Take it from me, my friend. I know things will be just fine.

19. State of California is so damn monolithic.
Nothing lean and mean about how they operate.

20. Same here in Washington. And, I would venture to guess, in the
other states as well.
