11. Okay, - but for clarification,
this would affect only City of Seattle-operated offices. Not buildings and offices within the city limits of Seattle. So we've nothing to protest unless we work for the City of Seattle.

10. If the federal government operated like Seattle's city government...
The nation's highway system would be replaced by enormous bike paths.

Every habitable space within the limits of every city would be occupied by either office towers, Banana Republics, or condominiums.

All public school students would go to schools two towns away.

Fun would be limited to Las Vegas and its environs.

$1.2 billion would be allocated to fund tourism slogans like "Metronatural."

It would be run by individuals who straddle the fine line between utopian and maddeningly incompetent.

12. Anyone dumb enough to burn microwave popcorn is a dumbass in my book
You stand there with the popcorn - not head to the bathroom for a 15min dump while your microwave popcorn burns because you hit 5mins and then left it in there.

I find that popcorn is pretty much done at 2:33 minutes but you should always pay attention to when the popping slows down

34. You've obviously never used a Presto Power Pop

This damn thing makes the best popcorn ever, bar none. They don't sell them here in Canada, so I have to order a case of the "powercups" from time to time.

I know it's that bagged microwave popcorn you hate. I hate it too, it's too salty and fatty, even the "lite" stuff. But really, if you haven't done so, try that Power Pop. It's the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Perfect popcorn every time in about three minutes. EVERY kernel popped. No burning whatsoever.

It also does an excellent job, and I use it sometimes too, but I still like the Power Pop better. Easier to clean up.

43. Aha.
The Power Pop looks like a nice solution for the microwave. Much better to use than the prepackaged bags. That stuff is just nasty.

Another thing I like about the Whirley-Pop is that I can take it camping. No power source other than a flame is required.

44. I, uh, have a microwave in the trailer
Wait! I go dry camping in it frequently! When I do that, the microwave becomes a cabinet! When we're out like that, I just use a good ol' pot on the propane burner, or one of these on the campfire:

A classic! It takes some practice, but, damn it, the corn out of this thing may be the best of all! It sure is the most fun.

30. what a nuisance
That burnt smell is deeply charred and won't come out of the microwave. It is thick BLACK smoke. It smells like fire damage in the break room for days. I don't doubt that it contains the same cancer causing agents as BBQ steak. I hate large evacuations. Getting anyone out, who is, in a wheel chair or who is bed-ridden is a royal pain in the ass. There can be accidents in the stairwells as masses march down the stairs. You can't take the elevator. Lots of times all the emergency vehicles in the area show up blaring. The ADT shows up . You have to have an all-clear in the building to go back in. I think there can be charges for the City showing up ready to up out your 'fire'. And finally, IMO the worst outcome is that people no longer take the drill seriously. They quit leaving. No one gets all worked up into near-panic-Adrenalin-rushing to head for an exit. They don't care because it's a false alarm in their imaginations. I say ban the shit. It's a large scale amount of damage across all sectors of the population in a big building. There is real danger if immediate damage. I swear if I got knocked down the stairs and a bunch of people fell on me and walked over me, I'd sue. It was a foreseeable consequence that everyone in the building should be protected from. A safety inspector otta shut 'em down and start fining them for every past violation and double on any future ones. It would be a lot less expensive to make an addendum to the Policy and Procedure manual, than to have an employee crushed in a cavalcade of high heels and loafers.

40. Ban Microwave Popcorn
Microwave popcorn causes cancer: http://pubs.acs.org/subscribe/journals/esthag-w/2005/nov/science/rr_popcorn.html, http://www.progressiveu.org/190000-microwave-popcorn-causes-cancer

It also causes lung disease in the people who work in Popcorn Factories: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/05/06/AR2007050601089.html

Plus it is the ultimate in laziness to have to microwave popcorn if you could just as easily make it the old-fashioned way with oil and a pot, not to mention that it tastes much better made the old-fashioned way.

I hate processed foods. Count me in the anti-microewave popcorn crowd, but for reasons other than the fact that people are too stupid to make microwave popcorn.
