Any East Coast Marathoners out there?
Which ones did you like/not like? I just got rejected from the NYC Marathon. Marine Corps is closed (I live in DC) and still want to run something. Any suggestions? The one thing I really want is a large field and a large crowd as I need that boost of adrenaline to get past the 20 mile mark. What about Philly -- anyone ever run it?

4. New marathoner here!
I live in Atlanta, and I'm training for my first marathon in January--the Rock 'n' Roll marathon in Phoenix. :)

I obviously don't have first hand experience with any marathons, but I've heard good things about all the Rock 'n' Roll Marathons--in addition to Philly, they have races in Nashville and Virginia Beach. You may want to look into those since they're not too far from you. I've also heard good things about Chicago, but I believe it's closed by now.

Maybe the Disney Marathon in Orlando? It's still open. http://disneyworldsports.disney.go.com/dwws/en_US/marathon/listing?name=MarathonEventListingPage2

Oh, and a word to the wise, stay away from the Atlanta marathon. It's on Thanksgiving morning and it's usually cold out (at least by Atlanta standards), so crowds don't usually turn out to cheer runners on. So I doubt you would get that adrenaline boost toward the end of the race that you would like.

Good luck, I hope you find an event that you will enjoy. :)

5. Disney is a fun, large marathon.
You won't get a great time as it can be tight in spots that causes some slow-downs and there are a number of turns. On the other hand, it is fun to look around and the sights are a good distraction from the pain. I'm doing the Disney 1/2 this year.
