I'll e-file them tomorrow and get my refund in a couple weeks. Maybe even sooner.

Do you hate me?

1. Yes, you ogre!
I just got a great big envelope from my tax man. When I get the courage to open it, it will have an appointment time for me. And then the race is on. It takes me about 12 hours to put the mess together for him. And since I always procrastinate, it usually means I don't get to bed the night before the appointment.

10. The minute that W-2 comes in my hubby is out the door.
We look at our refund as our savings account. Sad, isn't it?

estimate my taxes at least once a quarter (i file estimated taxes). i use "last year's" turbotax but then manually apply "this year's" rates.

i had mine finished the very day i found out the size of mrs. unblock's year-end bonus.

now i'm just waiting for all the paperwork to come in. so far everything ties out to the penny. and of course it will, because, e.g., i looked up my bank interest online, so of course the 1098-int will match.

now, of course, i won't file until april 15, because i keep my withholding to the bare minimum (generally, 90% of this year's total tax or 100% of last year's total tax). in other words, no refund for me. a refund means you let them take out too much to begin with. this way, the money i owe uncle sam is working for until the last possible minute.
