Edited on Wed Jun-06-07 01:13 PM by NewWaveChick1981
:yoiks: Yep, Olive Garden. :scared: Just found out about it earlier this afternoon. Hold me---I'm scared.....scared I'll see what real Italian food is like there.

Do you think I'll see Isabella Rossellini there?

Please send healing vibes at noon Eastern time tomorrow. :hi:

4. ::points and laugh:::
My fiance actually likes OG, and I just laugh at him :D

I usually just get a salad and count down the minutes til I'm out, but apparently their alfredo sauce is good.

Good luck :)

The most basic sauce recipe in the book!

butter
heavy cream
garlic
Parmesan cheese
salt & pepper
+ a little cornstarch to thicken it a bit.

/worked for "the family" for 6 months
//they treat you like shit

We were well paid (for this area... $9/hr in a town where 80% of the non-university jobs pay minimum wage). We got the "soup/salad/breadsticks" deal free on breaks (when we poor kitchen slaves actually got breaks) or before/after a shift, plus a 25% discount when we came in on days off, etc...

Health insurance started day one... wasn't the best coverage, but it was something.

I was on the staff that opened the location here last summer, and unfortunately corporate didn't truly appreciate the potential business here, and made some stupid decisions with regard to labor scheduling in the kitchen.

Basically, as a night-time prep/back-up cook, i was severely overworked (doing about 1/3 of all the prep for the day, which usually takes 6 people, all by myself), and things were getting worse by the day...

So i quit.

31. Cornstarch in Alfredo Sauce? EWWWWWwwwwwwww........
Hmmm, I just did a check and many Alfredo sauce recipes have cornstarch in them. I've never used it in my sauce and have never had a problem with thin sauce, so I thought it sounded wrong.

OK, change in plans for dinner tonight, Pork and Prosciutto tortellini with Alfredo sauce!

22. I know I'll earn the undying contempt of my fellow DU-ers here, but I LIKE Olive Garden!
I mean, it's not the greatest Italian food in the world. But it's pretty good. I'm looking to try their new pasta and Italian sausage entree soon. I've had genuine Italian food (albeit at a restaurant in Germany), and nothing compares, but Olive Garden is good for a decent meal now and then.

Still, NWC, I'll be more than happy to hold you if you like. B-)
