Crap, the next few weeks are going to be CRAZY
Tomorrow, we're going to be filing a petition with the Court to have my son's last name changed to my husband's last name. My son is 4 and I have been with my current husband since he was 8 months old (we got married about a year later). We're now getting him enrolled in school and it will just make things so much easier all the way around if all of us have the same last name. My husband treats him just like he would his own and my husband's family does the same. My in-laws just took my son with them to Atlanta for a week and he spends every other weekend with them.

This is not going to go over well with my son's biological father though, even though he has done NOTHING for him. Two years ago, he sent me a whopping $60 but since then, nada. My son only seems him if I take him to visit him (250 miles away) and he rarely, if ever, calls to see how he's doing. With that said though, he is going to FLIP OUT when he gets served with these papers later this week. I expect to be called every name in the book and I'm one of those annoying people pleasers who isn't very good at fighting back.

I think I may need to keep the phone unplugged for a while.

2. Good thoughts for you & your family.
Unplugging the phone sounds like a great idea.

3. Get caller ID.
That way you won't answer when he calls.

It's so worth it!

Good luck to you, hang in there.

4. I hope this goes well for you
Your in the drivers seat -- remember that. If he isn't paying support, you have leverage.
