Rene (RBNYC) Says HELLO and THANK YOU (she called)

Rene called me last night to say hi. she is doing pretty well and moved into her rehab room. Cliff is holding up pretty well also.

she'll get better physically and mentally she told me that things are pretty good. she is VERY thankful that this will be over someday.

she told me when she gets out, they will have a little ceremony and place a stone somewhere for the baby.

she wanted me to convey the love and thanks she has for everyone at DU. people are printing out these threads and reading them to her periodically. it has REALLY helped her knowing that we all care and love her so much. the 'voices' she hears from DUers has been a big boost.

she sounded great and we are all very thankful to have her.

Rene's told me that you are King of the Lounge.

Thanks for the update. Although I talk to her every day (sometimes several times), the drugs still confuse her on who she told what. She's trying to work through the pain so she can lead an unmedicated life and remember what she has to.

My little gingersnap is looking forward to leaving institutional life and going home. She won't be going home to her third-floor walkup in Brooklyn, though. She'll be going home to her new family, Cliff's family, who have taken her into their hearts as if she were born there.

12. Great news!

Glad to hear she is doing better. I can't even imagine what the last few weeks have been like for her emotionally not to even mention physically. What a roller coaster!

When she's ready to place a stone somewhere for her baby, we all should do something like that where we live - plant a flower, a small tree or something. That would be a great tribute to the things that draw people together here at DU such as the loss of the baby.

I'll keep sending my prayers her way.

I've not had the pleasure of knowing Rene, but I read the original thread from flama with a sick heart. She must be a very special person indeed to recieve so many kind words. I think your idea is AWESOME, nini, and I for one will join you in doing just that as soon as the word is given that it's time. Also, of course, my best wishes and thoughts go to Rene and family as well in this difficult time. :)

Rene, if you're reading, I hope the Far North karma and the River Renewal ceremony helped! The ceremony was great, and included Monica's friend who passed, Jen's PeeWee and others who need good thoughts. We burned a HUGE rope of sagegrass, as well.

18. Update regarding Rene

I haven't spoken to her, but her friend says she is leaving the hospital tomorrow and returning to her inlaws house, where she will be very happy to have something other than hospital food.

I know FLAMA has already sent that address around, I will update all the people I pm'd with the hospital address.

Keep getting a busy signal instead of my daughter so thank you very much for the exciting news.

Rene has had computer withdrawl and, more seriously, DU withdrawl for two entire weeks now. I'm sure she'll be writing posts for as long as her little broken tailbone can sit in the chair. (I can see it now: "I can sit in the chair for five minutes. Ask me anything!")

While I'm hallucinating, I did hear Rene's voice singing "I Shall Be Released." If she ever covers someone else's song, it should be that one. She sounded great in my head.

There's a trick I learned about a hundred years ago. Well, maybe 40. When sending cards to hospital patients, use their home address instead of yours as the return address to make sure they'll get them if they're released before the cards get there.

Hospitals usually return mail that comes to discharged patients. (That's why the return address trick works.) I hope Rene can convince the rehab center to collect her mail for pick up for a week or so. (Bet she can!)
