9. Did you know this about Jack the scientist . . .
In 2001, Jack Van Impe Ministries "won" the humorous/mock Ig Nobel Prize for astrophysics for its assertion that "black holes fulfill all the technical requirements to be the location of Hell."

7. Ernest Angley.
His plastic snap-on hair just made me swoon when I saw it. :P Besides, he bought a house for his parents in the early 80s one street up from my mom. Occasionally, when I was home from college, I'd see him drive by in his pimped-out Cadillac.

 My mom used to work at a Catholic liberal arts college, and the monks there all popped popcorn and drank beer on Sunday afternoons to enjoy the entertainment offered by Ernest's "healing" tv show.

36. Benny Hinn is the best
Priceless lunacy.

http://www.deceptioninthechurch.com/ti020006.htm

He wears his diamond Rolex, diamond rings, gold bracelet and custom suits for all to see. ..."What's the big deal, for goodness sake?" he says. "What am I supposed to do, drive a Honda? ... That's not in the Bible. ... I'm sick and tired about hearing about streets of gold (in heaven). I don't need gold in heaven. I got to have it now."

<...>

As for his critics, Hinn says: "You know, I've looked for one verse in the Bible -- I just can't seem to find it -- one verse that says, 'If you don't like'em, kill'em." I really wish I could find it! ... Sometimes I wish God would give me a Holy Ghost machine gun. I'd blow your head off."

37. I used to love watching Jimmy Swaggart
I liked the way he'd strut across the stage holding his bible aloft while working up a good sweat preaching fire and brimstone, and the way he'd squinch his eyes shut as he prayed. One particular sermon comes to mind. He'd tell how he and Sister Frances traveled the dusty back roads in their old clunker back in his early days, when they'd stay at motels - "not your fancy Holday Inns. No, the hotels we stayed at were knotty pine motels."

I loved to watch their fundraising pitches to send money and receive a gold dove ornament, and the promos for their camp meetings.

When I lived in New Orleans, my neighbor said I hadn't seen anything till I'd seen Marvin Gorman. Swaggart was Baton Rouge, but Gorman was NOLA. Gorman is the preacher who let the air out of Jimmy's tires while he was in the motel on Airline Highway with the hooker.

She's Canadian, I don't know if you get her in the US, or even if she's alive anymore. This would have been the 90's.

I remember thinking how perfectly androgynous she was - even her voice rivalled Barry White's - surprising, given her age.
