Poll question: Just curious - how many loungers know who they want to support for the 2008 prez race?
Don't need to post who or have a rant about "I won't vote for so n so". Just whether or not you actually have a candidate you're supporting.

I don't - everyday I find reason to support a different one which is odd because four years ago I was 110% on the Howard Dean train. My how time flies

If he doesn't announce in September or October...deep despair.

...but I don't intend to make my final decision until 2008. I don't like the big rush to start the campaign more than 18 months in advance of the election. We'll be tired of all the main candidates by the time the election rolls around.

4. Gore if he runs. Then Obama. Then anybody but GOP.
I hope I don't have *another* election where I'm just voting *against* the GOP though. I'd like to be excited about it, and hopeful.

20. I personally think Gore could be, if given the opportunity, THE greatest...
...president of the United States. He's obviously going to make the environment his big issue, and rightly so. But more than just that, in the process, he'll spend the money to bring alternative fuels to reality, which once we get of our dependence of middle-eastern oil will pretty much negate our need to negotiate and appease terrorist sponsoring nations like Saudi Arabia. Of course, we need to convince him to run.

6. no fucking clue
And, I don't really care to get involved in the primary wars again...I didn't in 2003 or 2004, and I'm not going to start this time.

If Al Gore entered the race, my thinking might change, however.

My strong preference would be that it would be Gore. But if he decides not to run, I'll go for whoever gets the Dem nomination.

10. I have a favorite now, but I'll work and vote for winner of the D Primary.
And I think I'll bypass any comment in GD until after the (D) winner is determined. I'm just too fuckin' worn out from the 2000 debacle and the 2004 election to participate in flame wars on this one. I'm in deep emotional paralysis and survival mode this time.

Above all, I primarily want a Democrat in the highest office, as well as greater gains in the House and Senate.

27. I will vote for the Democrat. Whoever that is.
I don't really care for any of them, except Kucinich. And he is a non-starter.

If Gore jumps in I will work my ass off for him and will send him what little money I can spare.

If Gore doesn't run I will simply vote for the (D) on election day. That is about all the support I would give to any of the choices we have now.

29. I don't know
I vote for the person, not the party (I NEVER vote Republican, but that's because there has never been, and likely never will be, a Republican I want to vo....ok, I gotta get this off my chest....I voted for George Bush in 2000! I'm so ashamed! I...I had just turned 18...I didn't know, I was STUPID! I'm from Utah, for Christ's sake, Utah! *sobs uncontrollably

now I know better

Anyway, in '04 I was really excited about Howard Dean. Perhaps Kerry was the better candidate, in that he had the greater chance of attracting moderate voters, but Dean was the one for my money. In '08, if Gore runs, he'll get my vote for sure...and not just out of atonement for...past transgressions. *shame

39. I Can't Vote
Due to the fact that I am Canadian. However I am fascinated by American politics and follow it quite closely by reading blogs, lots of political analysts and such. My favourite (note foreign spelling of that word) is Hillary Clinton. She is very highly thought of here in Canada because of her progressive stance on health care. But you know, I just have this gut feeling about Obama. I really believe that he's the one to beat. Just a foreigner's two cents.

41. i'm thinking that by
the time the primaries come around, obama and clinton will have flamed out and gore will be in it for real

but who the heck knows

i'm not a fan of clinton or obama at this point

clinton, despite the fact that she lived in arkansas, where i live, doesn't do it for me. her stances on the war have been hard to follow for me. she did stand up and vote against the bush blank check, but she also knew it wouldn't pass.

i tend to think she is too much into the whole corporatocracy thing myself.

obama i know less about except that he's pretty new to the national political scene. he seems like he peaked too soon, and may be a force to reckon with in the future, but just not sure

in the end, i will vote for whoever is in the D column

last time the primaries left me with no choices because the candidates had all dropped out except kerry, edwards, and kucinich by the time we voted.

i think that all primaries need to take place maybe on the same day.

42. Yes You Are Right
About the "corporatocracy" thing. That bother me as well. But don't you agree that all politicians must suck up to corporate interests despite their own convictions? Here in Canada in the 80's, our then prime minister Brian Mulroney was asked why he appointed so many of his cronies to important posts in government. His answer? "You gotta dance with the one that brung you". So basically, all politicians are whores I guess. I still like Hillary. She comes across as insincere at times, but hey, isn't that a hallmark of all politicians? Obama strikes me as a very sincere candidate, but you are right about yet another thing. An unknown who just burst onto the scene almost over night.

Who knows? The next year will be very interesting to watch for sure.
