4. The squirrels pirate my feeders.
I even bought one of the squirrel feeders that screw into a tree or pole. You put a corn/nut brick on the thing and it stays in place with a butterfly nut. One squirrel figured out how to undo the nut, and walked with the brick. Go figure!

17. I've heard they're kind of tough, and gamey...
My grandfather used to eat a lot of squirrl when he was a boy in rural GA, in the early 20th century. For all that he liked to talk about the good old days, he said he loved the fact that you could go to a store and buy meat or fish. He also said he didn't miss squirrel meat.

16. Life's great. I'm cycling like a maniac these days.
Edited on Wed May-30-07 01:41 PM by Shine
I've been training hard all season for an organized double metric century this coming Saturday.

125 miles, with 8,000 ft of climbing! :woohoo:

It'll be Personal Best for me, in terms of cycling distance and climbing, so wish me luck, girlfriend.

I'm gonna need all the ju ju I can get.

Between now and Saturday it's all about hydration. I'm trying to drink at least 1 1/2 gallons of water a day to help with performance.

:hi: How's life on your end? When does the boy get outa school? Ours are out on June 13th. Countdown time....we're on the home stretch now! :pals:

18. Good luck!
Since we homeschool, we're going to be continuing class on a light schedule through most of the summer, though we'll probably have most of August to relax. I like leaving less time between school years...it means less time spent reviewing things he already knows. And he enjoys having more frequent breaks during the school year. His favorite term is "Spring Break: The Sequel".

I used to really be into hiking, until I got this plantar's fasciitis. :( I'm tired of my feet hurting!

21. I'd forgotten that you homeschool. Good for you, GoG!
I admire anyone who has the patience for that. I couldn't do it, no way. Not my thang...

Sorry to hear about your foot issues. I wish you lots of heeling. (pun intended) ;)

:hi:

I'm hoping some time in the pool this summer will help move things along a bit. :)

Pirate! Those be some wonderfully decked out pesky pillagers.

I daren't say the word s-q-u-i-r-r-e-l in my house or our Daizie goes ballistic. There's one o' them critters that hangs out in our back yard and taunts her.
