life, who would it be. I say living because we call couldn't have Julia Childs.

I'd pick

Star of the public television series, LIDIA’S ITALIAN AMERICAN KITCHEN, Lidia Matticchio Bastianich is widely regarded as the “First Lady of Italian cuisine and restaurants in the United States.” She was born in Pola, Istria, a region formed by the Gulf of Trieste at the juncture of Italy and the former Yugoslavia, and she came to New York in 1958. Her television show, Lidia’s Italian American Kitchen, began airing in January, 2001 and is accompanied by her third cookbook by the same name, released in October 2001 (Knopf). Lidia’s Italian Table was released in September 1998 together with a companion book of the same name (William Morrow, 1998). In addition, Lidia is the author of the monthly column, Lidia’s Italian Table, distributed by Universal Press Syndicate

One of America’s best-known chefs, cookbook authors, and cooking teachers, Jacques Pépin has published 24 books, numerous articles, and hosted nine acclaimed public television cooking series. His newest ventures include a 26-show series and companion cookbook, both entitled Fast Food My Way, and his bestselling memoir, The Apprentice: My Life in the Kitchen, which was published in hardcover in 2003 and in paperback in 2004 by Houghton Mifflin. On the horizon is a visual biography, Chez Jacques: Traditions and Rituals of a Cook, scheduled for publication by Stewart Tabori & Chang in May 2007. Pepin's most personal book to date, it will contain 100 of his favorite recipes, showcase his art and his essays on food history and cooking, and include stunning photographs of him enjoying life with family and friends.

Cooking is all about sharing: sharing a warm home with friends, welcoming family around a special holiday table, or even warming up to a date with a delicious meal. For many of you, cooking (and eating!) brings great pleasure. Hopefully, my recipes have a little added pleasure quotient in that they are unusual, unpredictable, yet irresistible at the same time. Wander through these recipes to find the perfect dish for your next occasion, then take a jaunt to the wine section to read about wines that complement the meal.

How could you ever decide between these three????

or Giada.

坂井宏行

I'm having a tough time deciding if I want a lifetime of really amazing food, or a lifetime of having something truly wondrous to stare at three times a day, or more.

2. On the one hand, one keeps you alive (and happy), on the other
hand you feed your imagination. I would go for the great food.

Giada has a big head. A lot like something you see carved in stone in South Dakota. Don't you find that annoying? Or can you overlook that? (But I will say, the woman can cook.)

I'm unfamiliar with your choice as chef. I'll have to check him out.

5. You know what, I forgot about Alton. He's amazing. And he's smart too.
And funny.

Hell, it's the trifecta. Great food, nutritional education, and entertainment.

Lots of diversity and backgrounds with them. Recipes run from simple to elegant, and sometimes simple is good.

20. I agree
He is the one Iron Chef who consistently delivers an incredible performance. He is fantastically creative yet his dishes don't end up sounding (or looking) like a science project.

Now if I had to limit to a TV chef who's food I've actually eaten, I'd go with Bobby Flay. For some reason, people seem to underestimate him, IMO

14. Either
Giada or Sandra Lee.

Giada not only looks good but can really cook.

Sandra Lee looks good as well, and can cook better than I can.

Either way, I win.

Edited on Sun May-27-07 01:52 PM by Shakespeare
Because 1. they both understand that food should be soulful and simple (and not always ostentatious), and 2. they're both imminently fuckable (hey, you'd have to work off all those calories, ya know).
