Pirates of the Caribbean III******spoiler Alert******
i went to see it today, i'd be curious if anyone else did and thought the same thing i did which is to say---Did not like, very disappointed and i really liked the 1st two. I took my daughter and her friend to see it and i didn't say a word during the movie, right after it finished and we were walking outside they both said--Wow i really didn't like it".

It is too long imo and there are too many convoluted plot points they could have done without.

1. I've heard it's terrible.
I decided not to go to see it with friends today. When they came back, they said it was tedious and convoluted.

I didn't like the second movie at all, so I think I'm skipping this one.

2. ok glad to know it wasn't just us that felt that felt. I purposely avoided all reviews of the movie
before i went to see it and now i went and read a few and it's not getting any really good reviews.

3. We saw it today
We liked it better than the second one, and glad it tied up the loose ends, of which there were too many at times.

I liked the beginning, with the habeas corpus suspension reminding us that pirates were the 'terrorists' of their times in terms of propaganda, and the surreal nature of the afterlife... no blissful hereafter in Davy Jones' Locker.

But the first remains by far the best. Both sequels have the Big Hit Syndrome, where they tend to get overblown and overdone.

That being said, they were designed to entertain, and I enjoyed it for what it is - a popcorn movie.

Keith Richards' cameo was surprisingly good and had a bit more seriousness than I expected.

One of the best virtues of all 3 films, despite all of the fantasy elements, is how gritty the pirates are. These aren't sanitized, plastic pirates. :-)

4. I thought it was great
It completely surpassed my expectations. I was expecting it to be lackluster, like the second one, but I really enjoyed it. So many movies have disappointed me lately, and this was such a pleasant surprise.

Did you see the bonus scene after the credits?

7. I won't say too much...
But it ties up the Elizabeth/Will story nicely.

9. So that's why he looked familiar!
And was it just me, or did the kid have braces? Sure looked like it. :)

11. Or it was supposed to be bad teeth, lol
My explanation for the kid's similarity is that the green flash at the sunset when Will kissed Elizabeth goodbye was that his soul came back, as the legend surrounding the green flash suggests.

I also like how Jack ended up in the same kind of dinghy he began with in the first movie. So if this is the last movie, all ends are tied up...

But there is room for a fourth. If so, I hope it brings it back to the elements which made the first film the most enjoyable of the three. :-)

12. A fourth movie would answer the burning question...
What ultimately became of Gibbs? :7

Seriously, though, I would see the fourth one - as long as Captain Barbossa was in it. The second movie was poorer for his absence.

13. We just saw it
I had almost no clue what was what throughout the whole damn show. But it was colorful and had a lot of action for some reason that I am not sure of. Would not recommend unless it is hot and the theater is

14. we liked it, great visual impact, perhaps a bit pedestrian here & there...
(didn't think Keith Richards did that good of a job ) wonderful musical score, great themes, even a nod to the suspension of liberties at the level of the common people sort of V-esque; cool final sequence on the high seas spiraling round a maelstrom trading cannon shot with Davey Jones & The Flying Ditchman, with the agent of the East Indian Trading Company's assertion shortly thereafter, "It's just good business." as his vessel is reduced to swirling splinters & sheets of fire all about his vacated demeanor:

http://disney.go.com/disneypictures/pirates

ps, just dropped the above into another DU'ers request as to whether i liked it :hi: hubby's the film guy and mentioned that some of the segments were a bit too long, but with so much money in the hands of filmmakers & imagineers...it's all about burning up raw film stock sometimes

15. Better than the 2nd-- on par with the 1st
Could have used about 30min of editing though... gratuitous CGI scenes and Henry V speeches could have been nixed...

But, has anyone figured out what the red stain is on Jack's cheek?

It's been there since the first movie. It could use sub-titles for of the heavy accents.
