Who here is done with 'American Idol'?
I know I am. My cheesy guilty pleasure now will be 'Dancing with the Stars'.

1. I quit watching before this season was even half over. It got boring.
I'm anxiously awaiting BB8.

5. Big Brother 8? They're up to season 8? Sheesh. That show is pure voyeuristic crap.

7. It makes no sense at all, unless you start from the very first episode, and know what's going on.
It's basically a "real life" soap opera, and if you try to start in the middle, you won't have any idea who the people are or what the relationships are. I watched a few episodes of it one summer, but I found it to be tedious and lacking in action or any real meaning.

We'll see.

4. It's sad, because Season 2, in 2003, was joyous and fun. It has devolved steadily ever since
to the point where it's just another "reality" show, just another talent contest. They have never been able to recapture the fresh, freewheeling atmosphere they had in 2003. The show is now on a steep decline and it's mainly the fault of the producers.

20. One problem this year
Too much emphasis on the guest stars, not enough on the contestants.

For good cheesy fun, you should check out "So You Can Think You Can Dance" which is sort of AI for dancers. Nigel Lythgoe who is a producer on AI is one of the judges here (he used to be a dancer/choreographer back in the day). They're in the audition phase right now. It's on tomorrow and Thursday night on FOX.

11. This was a disappointing season, but I'll watch again

The biggest problem was that the judges made too many mistakes in the Hollywood Round. How they could pass up Perla Meneses was beyond me. Maybe move the guest judges from the auditions to the Hollywood Round. The main three judges will still have the final say who gets on the show, but the guest judges will help them make cuts.

Jordin Sparks is a good singer, though I tend to like her more on the R&B-style songs. When she nails a song, she really does, like with her version of "A Broken Wing." She's only 17, and her first album will likely have no artistic input and be boring. But I hope she can get past any early problems.

Blake might have actually been helped by coming in second, and having to find himself a contract.

and I expect Blake will have the same kind of success.

14. Personally I was hoping LaKisha won, and when..
it got down to Melinda, Blake, and Jordin, I thought Melinda deserved it based on singing alone. But it's obviously not always the best singer who wins.

19. Great voice but no soul.
No real personality ever came through. She was a purely "technical" singer - great technique but nothing else.

Just my opinion.

25. I hate to admit this, but I saw every performance of every single episode all season.
And that's pretty sad, I have to admit. Yes, I saw that performance and it was a good one.

I think at the beginning of the season, when Melinda was the odds-on favorite to win, she actually tried a little harder to let her personality come through. When it started to tighten up later in the season, she went back to being all technique. The Tina Turner thing, that they had been pushing all along, came off as all technique but no fire. Maybe she shouldn't have tried a Tina song because nobody can compare to Tina.

30. I mostly agree with soleft
Like I said before, LaKisha's gospel stylings were more to my liking, but I thought Melinda provided a nice bridging of past and present. She could be equally comfortable on a Gladys Knight-type performance as she was on a rocker. Sometimes her choice of song wasn't so great in the middle of the season, but she recovered at the end.

28. I was done with it before it began.
Glorified karaoke to the tune of music that sucked to begin with? I'll never understand the appeal.

I did hear about this Sanjaya guy, though, and that voters carried him farther than his talent should have. I was rooting for him to win just so the show would take the credibility hit everyone was predicting.

Honestly, I just want it to go away. When I watch 24, even the American Idol ads piss me off.

29. Have been since they stopped putting Hawai'i contestants on
out here where there is a dearth of hard news such as murder, arson, etc., the exploits of Jasmine, Jordan et al. were front-page news. Literally.

Then again, Sanjaya did live on Kaua'i years ago, so maybe there's hope...
