Ask for the UVB only booth if they have one; or a booth with bulbs that have a lot of hours on them. Start with FIVE min. Yes really. Increase EVERY OTHER DAY one to two min. at a time; depending on how your skin responds. Every other day because your skin needs 24 hours to show how it is responding (burn or not burn; turns to tan). You should never really be doing over 20 min.; each state has diff. standards but over 20 really is not healthy for skin and can damage much more. I would advice NOT using the lotion recommended until after you've hit the 10 min. mark. Remember to use the lotion sold at the salon (lotions sold elsewhere have mineral oil in them which damages the acrylics; acrylics cost $100-$200 to replace-the salon will thank you). If you are in a serious hurry, the self-tanner spray booth is the best route. (called Mystic tan in my area). Some salons also have an airbrush tan; same diff. Downside is that this washes off fairly easily and costs more. Good luck!
