A grisly scene in Orange County. Police say a man decapitated his mother with a circular saw and then tried to cut off his own head with the power tool.

The man -- identified as 32-year-old Arthur Ruiz -- died of severe neck injuries.

It's unclear why he attacked his mother, 60-year-old Guadalupe Ruiz.

Police discovered the grisly scene when they responded to a 9-1-1 call at early yesterday.

Three other adults and a juvenile in the three-bedroom home at the time were removed while police waited for a judge to issue a search warrant.

The home was rented to two people.
