4. I was mixed up from the ramped-up hype of Mother's Day in
the media, and mistakenly believed last Sunday was the sacred holiday. I finally said to family, "Why isn't anyone being nice to me today?" Husband & daughter = blank look. I sidled over to the calendar & spied my mistake. I probably blew a whole buncha Mother's Day brownie points with my obliviousness.

6. Nada...
and this year, I'm not just being coy. I really don't want to do anything.

I'm assuming, of course, that the kids behaving and not trying to kill each other is out of the question.

29. I get you, RRR....
I'd like to go off by myself that day (it IS the fishing opener..:) ), and let my DH worry about whether or not the kids are going to kill each other.

Want to go fishing with me? :+

9. I'm not even THINKING about it right now.
My mom is gonna end up getting a shitty, last minute gift. I'm defending my thesis on Friday, and I haven't left the house all week (must....study....). And this weekend, I may be either too shit-faced drunk (if I fail) or too shit-faced drunk (if I pass) to be much good.

10. the mail
I am mailing my mother a two-three page letter and as a gift, a neck pillow. It's a certain kind of pillow she likes. Also some lovely green berries I bought for her at Smith & Hawkens (she's loves to do flower arrangements).

It is going out in the mail tomorrow.

I will also phone her.

Thinking of love. You know what's odd? When your child's birthday, mother's deathday, and mothers day are all the same week.

I've made a few friends there whose kids can't/won't be able to visit for Mother's Day. I sent my Mom some things she will enjoy since I will won't see her until this summer.

23. Only one question, huh?
Depends on the weather Saturday night. If it is clear, I will be observing until 4:00 a.m. and sleeping into the afternoon. If the weather sucks, my wife and I will go cycling at the park. My mother lives back East, so no visiting or anything.

30. Going to the triplets' for dinner.
My mother is gone, but three mothers will be there. The triplets' mother, my sister, and my nephew's fiancee, who is divorced with three kids.

My nephew-in-law (the professional chef) is cooking dinner. No clue what yet, but it will be excellent. It always is....
