Directions in MA:

Ok, take a left at the DD, go about 1.5 miles, take a right at the DD, pass two more DDs.... :P

3. Was the Big Dig built by people high on Dunkin?
There's a better way. Nothing's ever gone wrong in the land where this is king:

6. Computer says "noooooooooo"!
I think their struggles proved they couldn't live up to the hype. Unfortunate, as they're pretty much the only game in town in the Midwest. Dunkin and Tim Horton's kicked their ass right out of town when they tried to move in on the Buffalo, N.Y. market!

28. Horton's has around 50 locations, and Dunkin has 22
in the Buffalo/Niagara Frontier area - I'm sure KK would have loved to make dent in that market share, but didn't measure up. I even recall when they opened their first store in the area - my Mom, who still lives there, was saying they were hiring off-duty cops just to direct traffic in and out of the lot...5 years, they were gone (just one remaining location in the area).

31. I knew my graphic was too esoteric
That's Sir Eaton-Hogg, manager of Spinal Tap. I was trying to paraphrase him when he told the band that their gig in Boston was cancelled due to poor ticket sales: Boston's not a big college town.

37. DAMMIT!!!! I should have recognized that immediately, considering
that I own the DVD, being one of my all-time favorite movies! (Delivering huge smack to my forehead as we speak!) If it was Monday morning, I would have had some kind of excuse, but it's fricking Friday! D'oh! :dunce:

One of my favorite lines from the movie, and one I've occasionally even used in other contexts as well! :toast:

Hey, it's people who ate Krispy Kreme who elected Senator Jesse Helms (R-NC) and Senator Strom Thurmond (R-SC)! Fortunately the good people of North Carolina also gave us John Edwards, but the rest of the crowd (Lauch Faircloth, Liddy Dole et al) doesn't inspire much hope.

I see your Floyd Spence (R-SC) and raise you a Barney Frank (D-MA).

On edit: After a return visit to Boston some years back, I decided that perhaps the stupidest question a visitor could utter would be, "Is there somewhere around here where I could buy some coffee and doughnuts?" Even the motel I stayed in served Dunkin' Donuts for breakfast.

In Boston I lived within a few blocks of one and worked a block away from another one. Long before th Starbucks phenom they were the best place to get a decent cup of coffee. Their donuts were better when they baked them on site. Chocolate honey dipped.....mmmm,donut.

They were HQ'ed in Randolph as I recall.

Edited on Fri May-04-07 12:28 PM by Marrah_G
Southshore and Rhode Island are even worse.

I am always within a couple minute drive of a DD and when I lived in RI I literally had 5 within a 2 mile radius.

I am Dunkies Addict...no donuts...just coffee. Hazlenut, Extra Extra.... yummmmmmm

I consider anywhere in the US that does not have one (and to be a REAL dunkies they can't hand you those stupid little cream and sugar packets instead of making it to order)is simply uncivilized !!!!!

You can't throw a stone without hitting a florist, a book shop or a Dunkin Donuts. Cheers!
