Don't even ask how I got to this page. Proof positive that web surfing can be hazardous to your mental health.

Really, I'm not too shocked this page exists: what creeps me is the 9 million plus hits on the counter.

Yikes.

Kind of in the same catagory as people who live as their own Star Trek characters, except with an extra dash of disfunctional escapism thrown in for good measure.

28. i would like to see the study
and the numbers.

there's a very serious discussion to be had here.

if we are to judge this man simply on his costume and symbolism and label him as dysfunctional for his "escapism", then would it be a stretch to suggest the same is true of Priests, Nuns, Monks, Pagans, etc? the only real difference i see in the equation is the latter are deemed sociably acceptable.

34. It wasn't a study. It was an April 27, 2005 article in the LA Times
about the Toronto Police sex crimes unit. One detective apparently claimed that "all but one" of the sex offenders arrested by the Toronto sex crimes unit weas a "hard-core Trekkie."

When contacted later by email, a spokesperson for the Toronto Police sex crimes unit backed down on the claim, saying, ". . . all but one" was a bit of hyperbole. However, the cops do stick by their claim that the vast majority of people that they bust seem to have an obsession with sci-fi. And that most of them seem to really like Star Trek. Whether that's the original series, TNG or Deep Space 9, remains open to debate."

One article in a major daily US newspaper does not constitute credibility or a peer-reviewed study.

The link was a tinkerbell opposite a picture of Anna Nicole.

The original link was from page on famous/weird deaths. They had a story on the Death of Lawson Deming at 94, a kind and gentle man who played a character named "Sir Graves Ghastly" showing cheesy horror films on Saturday afternoons in Detroit. A staple of my childhood.

62. I always feel that way when I visit so many places in America.
Oh. My. God. If this is remotely normal...

I've been in Midwestern towns that completely freak me out, where the most eccentric people you see are teenagers trying to be radical by imitating something they saw on television.

I once did a job for a guy in West Hollywood who was a jolly large purple fairy. He was gay too, but that didn't have anything to do with it. Mostly I think he wanted to live in a flower and fly around the garden creating mischief among the other fairy people.

It's pretty cool when someone can live their dreams.
