Song lyrics requested...
Have two colleagues working on major proposals. For the past three days I have been giving a great deal of help to each project - but my work is done. I would like to send the lyrics to a song that would give energy (and a smile) to weary, weary folks working on a laborious proposal for a really good cause (working with urban youth).

Any suggestions?

3. Great choice
found the lyrics:

Fleetwood Mac -- Don't Stop lyrics

If you wake up and don't want to smile,
If it takes just a little while,
Open your eyes and look at the day,
You'll see things in a different way.

Don't stop, thinking about tomorrow,
Don't stop, it'll soon be here,
It'll be, better than before,
Yesterday's gone, yesterday's gone.

Why not think about times to come,
And not about the things that you've done,
If your life was bad to you,
Just think what tomorrow will do.

Don't stop, thinking about tomorrow,
Don't stop, it'll soon be here,
It'll be, better than before,
Yesterday's gone, yesterday's gone.

All I want is to see you smile,
If it takes just a little while,
I know you don't believe that it's true,
I never meant any harm to you.

Don't stop, thinking about tomorrow,
Don't stop, it'll soon be here,
It'll be, better than before,
Yesterday's gone, yesterday's gone.

Don't you look back,
Don't you look back.

2. Earth, Wind and Fire -- Star
Not Shining Star, but Star. It's on the album I Am. It was the first thing I wanted to listen to on 9/11/01

STAR
Maurice White, Eddie del Barrio & Allee Willis

In the sky, shines a star, spaces,
Near and far, calling out, who you are
And smiling in the night.

Star light, star bright beam across the
Sky -- falling, calling can you tell me why --
Star light, star bright mighty light to see.
Shining, smiling down on you and me --

Star hides from the rain, it turns
Against the pain, fooling many in the game
While smiling in the night --

I can feel the dark, take the night,
Apart, but then, the stars come out
And lift my heart --

Believing, there´s a star, for everyone
Makes it easier, to recall, that together
For the children of the world -- There´s
A star smiling for us all

Star, shining high, cultivating my desire
Graceful in the sky
And smiling in the night

Chorus out

5. WOw. That is inspirational
Am not familiar with the song... as I drew to the end with the reference to the children, out came the chills. Thanks.

"When You Believe" from Whitney Huston (Prince of Egypt sountrack?). I used it for an ESL class and the students seem to have dug it.

Many nights were prayed
with no proof anyone could hear
In our hearts a hopeful song
We barely understood
Now we are not afraid
Although we know there’s much to fear
We were moving mountains
Long before we ever knew we could

There can be miracles
When you believe
Though hope is frail
It’s hard to kill
Who knows what miracles
You can achieve
When you believe
Somehow you will
You will when you believe

In this time of fear
When prayer so often proved in vain
Hope seemed like the summer birds
Too swiftly flown away
Yet now I’m standing here
With heart so full I can’t explain
Seeking faith and speaking words
I never thought I’d say

There can be miracles when you believe
Though hope is frail
It’s hard to kill
Who knows what miracles
You can achieve
When you believe
Somehow you will
You will when you believe...

Now that i read it again...maybe too much religious undertone.

7. High Hopes
Frank Sinatra
ftp://ftp.buffnet.net/pub/Annie_Waves/page8/high_hopesdnl.wav
Writer(s): Cahn/Van Heusen

Next time your found, with your chin on the ground
There a lot to be learned, so look around

Just what makes that little old ant
Think he'll move that rubber tree plant
Anyone knows an ant, can't
Move a rubber tree plant

But he's got high hopes, he's got high hopes
He's got high apple pie, in the sky hopes

So any time your gettin' low
'stead of lettin' go
Just remember that ant
Oops there goes another rubber tree plant

When troubles call, and your back's to the wall
There a lot to be learned, that wall could fall

Once there was a silly old ram
Thought he'd punch a hole in a dam
No one could make that ram, scram
He kept buttin' that dam

'Cause he had high hopes, he had high hopes
He had high apple pie, in the sky hopes

So any time your feelin' bad
'stead of feelin' sad
Just remember that ram
Oops there goes a billion kilowatt dam

All problems just a toy balloon
They'll be bursted soon
They're just bound to go pop
Oops there goes another problem kerplop

13. A better High Hopes - Floyd
Looking beyond the embers of bridges glowing behind us
To a glimpse of how green it was on the other side
Steps taken forwards but sleepwalking back again
Dragged by force of some inner tide

At a higher altitude with flag unfurled
We reached the dizzy heights of that dreamed of world

Encumbered forever by desire and ambition
There's a hunger still unsatisfied
Though down this road we've been so many times

10. Movin' Right Along
"Movin' Right Along"
(Kermit and Fozzie, best friends singing together on the road to Hollywood)
Click here for a Quicktime movie clip of "Moving Right Along" from Henson.Com (1.6 MB) http://www.henson.com/video/MuppetMovie1a.mov

Kermit
Movin' right along in search of good times and good news,
With good friends, you can't lose,
Fozzie:
This could become a habit.
Kermit:
Opportunity just knocked, let's reach out and grab it,
Together we'll nab it.
Fozzie:
Ya! We'll hitch-hike, bus, or yellow cab it.
Kermit (spoken): Cab it?
Kermit & Fozzie:
Movin' right along
Kermit:
Foot-loose and fancy free.
Gettin' there is half the fun; come share it with me.
Kermit & Fozzie:
Movin' right along!
Kermit:
Doog-a-doon, doog-a-doon
We'll learn to share the load.
Fozzie:
We don't need a map to keep this show on the road.
(Dialogue)
Kermit: (looking at the map) Hey, Fozzie, I want you to turn left when you get to a fork in the road.
Fozzie: Yessir: turn left at the fork in the road.
(A giant fork appears in a fork in the road)
Fozzie: KERMIT!
Kermit: I don't believe that.
Kermit:
Movin' right along we found a life on the highway,
Fozzie:
And your way is my way--
Kermit:
So trust my navigation.
Fozzie:
California here we come, come pie-in-the-sky land.
Kermit:
Palm trees and warm sand--
Fozzie:
Though sadly we just left Rhode Island.
Kermit: (spoken) We did what?
Fozzie: (spoken) Just forget it.
Kermit & Fozzie:
Movin' right along
Kermit:
Hey, L.A., where have you gone?
Fozzie:
Send someone to fetch us, we're in Saskatchewan.
Kermit & Fozzie:
Movin' right along
Kermit:
Doog-a-doon, doog-a-doon)
You take it, you know best.
Fozzie:
Hey, I've never seen the sun come up in the West.
Fozzie: (spoken) A bear in his natural habitat! A studabaker! <natural.wav>
(Dialogue)
Kermit: Hey, Fozzie, look up ahead.
(A tall creature is walking on the other side of the quiet empty highway)
Fozzie: What is that?
Kermit: Maybe we should give him a ride.
Fozzie: I dunno. He's pretty big.
(The studabaker pulls alongside the creature)
Fozzie: Hey, there. Wanna lift?
Big Bird (Carroll Spinney) Oh, no, thanks. I'm on my way to New York City to try to break into public television!
Fozzie: Ah...hmmm, good luck.
(The studabaker keeps on moving the other direction)
Kermit & Fozzie:
Movin' right along
Fozzie:
We're truly birds of a feather,
We're in this together--
Kermit:
And we know where we're goin'.
Fozzie:
Movie stars with flashy cars and life with the top down.
Kermit:
We're stormin' the big town.
Fozzie:
Yeah! Storm is right, should it be snowin'?
Kermit: (spoken) No, I don't think so.
(On the Soundtrack but not in the Movie)
Kermit & Fozzie:
Movin' right along
Fozzie:
Do I see signs of men?
Kermit:
Yeah, "welcome" on the same post that says "come back again."
Kermit & Fozzie:
Movin' right along
Kermit:
Foot-loose and fancy free.
Fozzie:
You're ready for the big time--
Kermit:
Is it ready for me?
Kermit & Fozzie:
Movin' right along!
Movin' right along!
(repeat to fade)

11. "I surely do appreciate, the fact you're sitting here.
Your voice it sounds so wonderful but your face it ain't too clear.
So barmaid bring another pitcher of that brew and
Darling why don't we get drunk and screw."

Jimmy Buffett, Why Don't We Get Drunk and Screw, from A White Sportcoat and a Pink Crustacean.

:D

Was that any help? Huh?

14. brothers in arms - Mark Knoppfler
These mist covered mountains
Are a home now for me
But my home is the lowlands
And always will be
Some day you'll return to
Your valleys and your farms
And you'll no longer burn
To be brothers in arm
Through these fields of destruction
Baptism of fire
I've watched all your suffering
As the battles raged higher
And though they did hurt me so bad
In the fear and alarm
You did not desert me
My brothers in arms
There's so many different worlds
So many different suns
And we have just one world
But we live in different ones
Now the sun's gone to hell
And the moon's riding high
Let me bid you farewell
Every man has to die
But it's written in the starlight
And every line on your palm
We're fools to make war
On our brothers in arms

15. You're a big girl now - Dylan
Our conversation was short and sweet
It nearly swept me off-a my feet.
And I'm back in the rain, oh, oh,
And you are on dry land.
You made it there somehow
You're a big girl now.

Bird on the horizon, sittin' on a fence,
He's singin' his song for me at his own expense.
And I'm just like that bird, oh, oh,
Singin' just for you.
I hope that you can hear,
Hear me singin' through these tears.

Time is a jet plane, it moves too fast
Oh, but what a shame if all we've shared can't last.
I can change, I swear, oh, oh,
See what you can do.
I can make it through,
You can make it too.

Love is so simple, to quote a phrase,
You've known it all the time, I'm learnin' it these days.
Oh, I know where I can find you, oh, oh,
In somebody's room.
It's a price I have to pay
You're a big girl all the way.

A change in the weather is known to be extreme
But what's the sense of changing horses in midstream?
I'm going out of my mind, oh, oh,
With a pain that stops and starts
Like a corkscrew to my heart
Ever since we've been apart.

16. Kundalini Express - love and rockets

This is an announcement
For the transcendental run
The train now standing
Leaves for higher planes
Due to a derailment
There will be no other train
So why not hop on this one?
Hear the porter's glad refrain

Each carriage is connected
As is every single train
The rails all form a track
Which is a link within a chain
The chain's connected to another chain now
You will need no ticket
If you wish to ride on this train

All aboard the express kundalini

The song is in your heart
Your heart is in the song
The song is of the earth
The song is of the sky

You are disintegrating
Into everything around
Reintegrating
The worm we dug from higher ground
You have let go of ego
Ego is no longer you
Closer to nirvana
Since the porters whistle blew

All aboard the express kundalini
