Allergy sufferers check in here.
Itchy sinuses, itchy red swollen eyes, sneezing. What are the best eye drops that you've tried? I picked up Visine-A today - helps somewhat but isn't as effective as I would wish for.

1. so, why do the allergy pills ..
Edited on Mon Apr-30-07 10:39 PM by stuntcat
(whatever that generic name is that I can't think of right now, and I'm not gonna get up and go look) .. WHY do they say to only take 1 every 24 hours? I *WenT CraZy* this weekend and took 3 in the same day.. which I probably shouldn't admit, the cops will come or I'll die or something.. But does anyone reading this know why we should only take one a day? The pills are so little I could snort one. And they don't work anyway, I took three, they could be sugar or something x(

Anyway the night-time allergy pills rock, they make me go to sleep!

2. This time of the year is the pits - really knocks me for a loop.
I do know it could be a heck of a lot worse, but I'm miserable.

6. "could be worse"
is the exact right attitude.
I cant help yelling sometimes when I sneeze and it makes me laugh, then I sneeze again while I'm laughing, Ithink I'm scaring the cats. But one of them has sneezing fits too, poor thing.

3. check - fall allergies for me
grassas and chenopods, mostly

I take store brand "claritin" (loratadine, I think), nasalchrom and don't use drops very often - I wear contacts and drops make me nervous.

4. Am lookin to go to the doctor for help. Cannot breathe well
Benedryl makes me sleepy, so can't take it at night. Claritin? One pill every 24 hours, but it only helps for the first hour x(

What Rx does the doctor have you on and how does it work? What 'script seems to work?

5. Allergies and asthma
I take Singulair, Flonase nasal spray (generic now available), Advair inhaler (100/50) and Allegra D-12 (now non-formulary and at $100 for 3 months I need to find a substitute.) And, finally, Albuterol before heavy exercise or when I'm having problems.

The downside is that it sucks and gets expensive taking so much crap. The upside is that I can breathe, stopped having chronic sinus infections and can do long-distance cycling and other very physical activities.

I can't be around smokers and am starting to have more chemical sensitivites and I need to slow down at high altitudes.

7. Thanks, prolesunited. Used to take Allegra D and it was good for me
No doctor within 100 miles means my script is long gone ;) Was wondering if any new RX out there that might be better. Was told the Allegra wasn't good for dust, but it helped me in Tucson, which has dusts and molds, so I'm thinkin it did well for me there, it might help me where I am now, which has MORE dusts and molds.

Flonase did bad things for me. Albuterol just about gives me a cardiac whoopsie, but they gave me something that started with an x that was fine last time I got pneumonia with asthma on the side after a flu. Thinking I need to buy a machine and keep a script for the stuff handy too. Life is not fun when you can't walk a block without wheezing.

Roger on the chronic sinus infections. I just thought I was getting old, feeble, and catching EVERYTHING. A recent trip to a different environment made it quite clear the problem is allergy based.

Know what you mean about being more chemically sensitive too. And lots of meds that work wonders trigger all sorts of really adverse reactions in me, which is why I am really hesitant to try much. But being so sick ALL the time is wearing me down bad. The trip to different air showed me I am not as old and feeble as I feel here at home. Gotta find a new drug! ;)

Any allergy sufferers find it also affects arthritis? Not having my hands hurt while I was in a better environment was a real surprise too. The only joints that still hurt were the two that really need to be replaced for lack of cartilage. Amazing.
