Green Day Fans - New CD Coming "Instant Karma" - Save Darfur - LENNON'S "Working Class Hero"
Edited on Fri Apr-27-07 07:31 PM by matcom
Geen Day will contribute a cover of John Lennon's "Working Class Hero" to the forthcoming CD Instant Karma: The Campaign To Save Darfur, proceeds from which help support Amnesty International's campaign to focus attention on the urgent catastrophe in Darfur, Sudan. "Working Class Hero," which appears on Lennon's 1970 album John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band, is considered one of the former Beatle's most overtly political songs, with its themes of class and social alienation.

Green Day - singer-guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tre Cool - will also shoot an accompanying video for the track.

8. I don't like Green Day much, but...
It's for a good cause, and anything even remotely connected to John Lennon automatically doubles in awesomeness.

9. It's too bad that all the bands that tried to ape these guys really suck ass.
Bad Religion and Green Day are proof that pop-punk can actually be good.

Unless you like songs about having the hots for your friend's mom while you suffer the angst of a broken skateboard.
