The soundtrack of the 2006 Academy Award winning Martin Scorsese film The Departed includes the version of the song originally featured on the album The Wall: Live in Berlin (1990). Roger Waters plays with Van Morrison, Levon Helm, Garth Hudson and Rick Danko (collectively known in this instance as Van Morrison and the Band), with Waters singing his original parts and Morrison singing David Gilmour's parts. Van Morrison's 2007 compilation album, Van Morrison at the Movies - Soundtrack Hits includes this version of "Comfortably Numb."

Comfortably Numb" is a song by the British (progressive) rock band Pink Floyd, which was released on the 1979 double-album The Wall. It was also released as a single in the same year, with "Hey You" as the B-side. It is one of only three songs on the album for which writing credits are shared between Roger Waters and David Gilmour – most of the music on "Comfortably Numb" was written by Gilmour, while Waters contributed the lyrics and some additional notes. "Comfortably Numb" is one of the most famous Pink Floyd songs, and is known especially for its guitar solos. In 2004, the song was ranked #314 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time

1. I only heard about this late last night
and now that I've seen it, I'm appalled. Morrison and those other fuckpies, whoever they are, sing the verses in something like a march tempo and far too loudly and forcefully for the dream state the song is supposed to describe.

Had I seen this performance, I might've attempted to boo him off the stage.

2. lol...glad you like it...those other fuckpies happen to be
members of the group previously known as The Band. As well as being a longtime fan of Pink Floyd(I bought their first album when it came out years ago), I've also been a longtime fan of Van Morrison and The Band. Needless to say, we all have our own taste in music.
