Jethro Tull appreciation thread...
I was priviledged to see Tull a couple of times in the '70's and once in the '80's. I saw them last summer, and they still haven't lost a step. Damned few showmen do it up as well as Ian Anderson. Always been one of my favorite bands. Enjoy!

3. I saw them in the 70's, too.
It was the best concert I've ever been to. They played an extra hour! I think their "Aqualung" album is genius.

10. That one will never go out of print.

Generations from now, kids will still be buying it.

7. Best. Album. Art. Ever....

Oh yeah. Commented on a King Crimson thread two days ago. Listen to them frequently, and have for past 30+ years.

6. Saw Them Twice In the 70's
Once in the 80's. Don't go to concerts anymore. Too frenzied for me. I still regularly listen to Burstin' Out, Stand Up, and Aqualung, and the song "Skating Away" is one of my 20 favorite tunes ever.

8. "Living in the Past" is one of those songs that stick with you for 3 decades.
Which should say a lot since I'm not yet 40.

One of my favorite Tull songs is "Witches Promise". That bridge could probably never be written today. People don't compose like that anymore. Then there's "Nursie". GOD what a progression.

13. Witches Promise was one of their encores, when my son and I saw

them in Kansas City last August.

14. So, you got to see them when they were still more rhythm and blues oriented.

Even though I love most all of their material,I miss those years.

15. Never saw them to my dismay
Love Tull. The combination of hard rock, thoughtful lyrics and Celtic ballads is amazing. Rather fond of Songs From the Wood.

17. Love 'em. It's hard to tell though how damn many idiots I had to
tell that Jethro Tull was not the name of the guy singing.

It was just so ridiculous.

20. The cattle quietly grazing at the grass down by the river
where the swelling mountain water moves onward to the sea:
the builder of the castles renews the age-old purpose
and contemplates the milking girl whose offer is his need.

This thread forced me to play my Thick as a Brick mp3. Classic stuff.

22. Longtime fan since the seventies.
Can't decide between Stand Up or Songs From the Wood as a favorite.

I never saw a live performance until I sorta followed the group in '93, seeing three shows across Germany on the 25th anniversary tour. Went to see 'em again here in Atlanta at the Fox in '96, then a disappointing show at Chastain Park (lousy sound) in '98. Saw Ian here on his Rubbing Elbows tour in '03.

I likes me some Tull. Best band ever, maybe.

23. Long time fan of Jethro Tull. Ian Anderson is an amazing performer
I saw him in the 80s in Tallahassee and I think they played for over three hours and he didn't slow down. I was also very fortunate to see him last year doing the "Orchestral Jethro Tull" in Virginia. He and the orchestra were fantastic, especially his guest performer, Lucia Micarelli. If you get a chance, go! Here is a clip from the tour, though it does not feature Lucia.
