Paul Revere and the Raiders appreciation thread!

This is just our little memo
To remind you of my demo
Put in the mail a week ago
Haven't heard it on the radio

CHORUS:
Good mornin', song seller
I suppose we've got it made
You're such a charmin' fella
Why can't you get this record played
Record played, record played?

Got 2 sways I stole from the Beatles
Had 'em sewed on with-a magic needles
Now I can play like George & Ringo
Haven't heard it on the radio

(chorus)

Waitin' down for the Devil, ah
I'm gonna make me a record deal
I'm gonna need me a real big wheel
Someone tell it to me, deal, now

Makin' the time that's push & shovin'
If you want me to, I'll sing about lovin'
Sing about it fast, sing about it slow
Wanna hear it on the radio

(chorus)

(long instrumental, to fade)

6. Dr. Hook Cover Of Rolling Stone

Well we're big rock singers we got golden fingers
And we're loved everywhere we go
We sing about beauty and we sing about truth
At ten thousand dollars a show
We take all kinda pills that give us all kinda thrills
But the thrill we never know
Is the thrill that'll gitcha when ya get your picture
On the cover of the Rolling Stone

Gonna see my picture on the cover
Gonna buy five copies for my mother
Gonna see my smilin' face
On the cover of the Rolling Stone

I got a freaky ol' lady name of Cocaine Katy
Who embroideries on my jeans
I got my poor ol' grey haired daddy
Drivin' my limousine
Now it's all designed to blow our minds
But our minds won't never be blown
Like the blow that'll gitcha when ya get your picture
On the cover of the Rolling Stone

Gonna see my picture on the cover
Gonna buy five copies for my mother
Gonna see my smilin' face
On the cover of the Rolling Stone

We got a lotta little teen-age blue-eyed groupies
Who'll do anything we say
We got a genuine Indian guru
He's teachin' us a better way
We got all the friends that money can buy
So we never have to be alone
And we keep gettin' richer but we can't get our picture
On the cover of the Rolling Stone

Gonna see my picture on the cover
Gonna buy five copies for my mother
Gonna see my smilin' face
On the cover of the Rolling Stone

and i dearly love paul revere and the raiders:loveya:

only in the 60's could they get by with those radical threads:hippie:

for some reason that line popped into my head upon reading the lyrics:shrug:

and so for that reason i would also like to include this (just for fun):P

i think ole gregg would fit in just fine here don't you?;)

play the venue in our little community (in Eastern Washington State)....they showed up in a gold colored Plymouth Valiant

13. I remember seeing them on Batman ...
it was an episode where the Penguin is running for mayor of Gotham City, so Batman enters the race against him. The Penguin's rallies were big parties and the Raiders was the band.

Their original release version of Richard Berry's "Louie. Louie" is the second best version recorded, ever...
right behind the Sonics' version.

16. Good band
Never got to see them in concert, but 2 friends of mine in high school in the late 60s did. One them won a radio channel's promotion for a couple of tickets and a back stage pass. My friend said that the band members were all very nice to her and acted appropriately for having a bunch of young teens around - no cursing or alcohol in sight. The visit was pretty quick - 15 minutes or so, but she got everyone's autograph and some nice candid photos. I recently heard that Mark Lindsey is now a born again Christian. I'll have to check his webpage one of these days.
