Just watching the final episode of the "West Wing"
It is airing in my country at the moment. Very sad, profoundly moving and touching to see all the Bartlett staff leaving and not having Leo there:cry::cry::cry: I'm going to miss Jed Bartlett and all the wisdom, integrity and good government that his Administration provided in the alternate world.

I'm sad to see the show go. It provided viewers around the world with an ideal presidency and a comforting world to escape to from the ignorant, prejudiced and unelected mis-administration that cheated itself into the White House six years ago. It gave us hope and inspiration during a time when hope and inspiration was much in need in the real world. It gave us a vision of what an ideal presidency could be.

But at least we know that President Bartlett leaves the White House with a Democratic successor in the White House who will continue his legacy. And the Bartlett Administration will live on in reruns and in our recorded episodes and on our DVDs.

One minor criticism of the show's ending. I'll concede that seeing Jed Bartlett thinking about tomorrow and his plane flying in the sky back to New Hampshire was very poignant and touching but wouldn't it have made more sense to have had the scene of the opening of the presidential library at the end of the series rather than in an earlier episode? Having the vision of the future in an earlier episode meant we knew how many of the loose ends were going to be tied up -i.e. CJ hooks up with Danny and the like. It might have been nice to have had the library scene at the very end as a final departure point. But nevertheless the ending that they did show was touching and poignant as well so it's not a major issue with me
