Israel Bissell?

Yesterday I read in the paper's "Today in History" section that in 1775 on April 18, Paul Revere began his famous ride to warn of the attack by the British. Paul Revere's ride was made famous, not so much by historians, but by the poet, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, who wrote a poem about Revere's ride.

Forgotten is the fact that there were many other riders whose names are not known. Almost forgotten is the name and deed of Israel Bissell, who was one of those other riders and whose ride was much longer than Revere's, lasting 4 days and 6 hours and going 345 miles from Watertown, Massachusetts to Philadelphia.

He says Israel Bissell sounds like a Jewish vacuum-cleaner. I am pretty sure the Bissells were Congregationalist or Presbyterians.
