Just how cold IS it in New England?

THE OFFICIAL NEW ENGLANDER TEMPERATURE CONVERSION CHART

50 F (10 C)
Californians shiver uncontrollably.
New Englanders plant gardens.

35 F (1.6 C)
Italian Cars won't start.
New Englanders drive with the windows down.

32 F (0 C)
Florida water freezes.
New England water gets thicker.

0 F (-17.9 C)
New York City landlords finally turn on the heat.
New Englanders have the last cookout of the season.

-60 F (-51 C)
Mt. St. Helens freezes.
New Englander Girl Scouts sell cookies door-to-door.

-100 F (-73 C)
Santa Claus abandons the North Pole.
New Englanders pull down their ear flaps.

-173 F (-114 C)
Ethyl alcohol Freezes.
New Englanders get frustrated when they can't thaw the keg.

-460 F (-273 C)
Absolute zero; all atomic motion stops.
New Englanders start saying "it's wicked cold"

Hell freezes over.

being a New Yorker tranpslanted from New England:

2. coldest 30 days I ever endured
1968, northern Vermont: for 30 consecutive days the highest recorded tepmerature was one degree above zero. ALL cars died, one human died walking back to his dorm after a frat party.

The humidity makes it seem even colder...shiver me timbers.

5. It is cold here, but
I grew up in the midwest (Nebraska) and overall, Winters were colder and harder, so really, it's not so bad.
