Last Thursday I jumped out of an airplane at 10,000 feet
I'm recovering nicely.

Kidding aside, it was an incredible experience from start to finish.

1. Yep, my first jump was awesome.
But after that, everything would go wrong with each jump. That's why I quit after 6 jumps, while I still had unbroken bones.

I understand.
After my partner jumped they told me there was a malfunction and I wouldn't get a video of my jump because the camera had quit working. OK with me--if there was going to be a malfunction in the operation, that was the best kind to have.

I would definitely do it again, but each time I did it after that I think I would feel a strong "I'm tempting fate" feeling.

2. Wow. I wish I could do that.
I sort of envy you. I would absolutely love to skydive, but it's never going to be possible.

I am very glad it was a great experience. :)

3. Thanks, Thom.
It was a tandem jump where I was harnessed to a guy that knew what he was doing--definitely the only way I would have done it.

8. He was.
20 years old and cute as a button. mr. swim and I did rock paper scissors and I got him. There wasn't a thing wrong with the other guy, either, though. He had a worldly beach dude hotness working. :9

:o

I've seen a video clip and jumping nekkid looks too potentially painful!

(fwap, fwap, fwap, fwap, fwap, fwap, fwap, fwap, fwap, fwap, fwap, fwap, fwap)

You can get tape that only sticks to itself though. Hmm.

6. Better you than me -
I remember a friend of mine coming back from Airborne school.

The first day they line you up and the DI says:

"Remember, there's only two things that fall out of the sky. Birdshit and idiots."

the camera malfunctioned on mine (again--the best kind of malfunction to have in those circumstances)

there's one of me right after landing I'll try to post soon.

It's the sudden stop.

Seriously if the plane is flying ok and not having problems. Then I am keeping my ass in it.

I stopped at 60 because I started doing stupid things, being careless, so forth. It is very fun, very cool, very exciting. Congratulations.

35. I did 15,000 - one time
I loved it. 5,000 free fall, 10,000 with chute (and an 'instructor' strapped to me). Didn't care much for the free fall - but LOVED the sereness of the rest of the jump.

But, a day later I was talking with a visiting scholar who was in a wheel chair. Learned that her condition was due to a bad landing from a jump. On the spot, I erased all ideas of doing enough jumps to jump solo. While I loved (and still cherish) the experience, my cautious nature kicked in. Prolly I could have done many more jumps with no problems - but that very real reminder of tragic consequences... put a halt on that part of my 'adventurousness'.

39. Similar thing happened to me with water-skiing.
Spent an afternoon when I was 22 in no-holds-barred throw-everything-you've-got-into-it wake-jumps and the same evening met a Delta pilot retired on disability as a result of a water-skiing mishap. Personal fable came to a crashing end for me at that moment.

I'll still take calculated risks, but reckless abandon became a thing of the past.

36. I want to do that...
I do however know two people who jumped from planes, one in the military, and one a civilian, and their chutes didn't open right. Both lived but have of course, some disability from that.

I'd still do it. LA Woman had some pics on her myspace page of her jump and it is awesome to watch, video too.

Yeah, she said "just do it"

I might just do it!

Did you have to use O2 at that height before the jump?

:hi:

38. O2
We didn't have to use 02 at that height but they let you know you can't scuba the day before because then you would have too much nitrogen in your blood to make the jump.
