Any Ideas on how to keep the kitty from urinating in the clothes basket?
We have a new baby at home. It started when the wife was about 7 mos. pregnant. We changed diets. Had her checked by two vets. More attention. The works. She is heading to the SPCA if I cant work it out.

and BTW- I have always loved my pets and this would be a first

1. you'll have to move it maybe
if the kitty's got into a habit.

Or keep a lid on it.

She wouldn't mess up if she knew she might go to SPCA for it!

5. yep... put it where puss can't get to it
if kitty keeps urinating out of the litterbox, be sure to take her to the vet. She may be experiencing pain w/ urination and if she associates pain w/ the litterbox she won't use it.

2. Try some Feliway
It's a hormone that is dispersed in the air through a plug-in (outlet). Each one lasts about a month and they are approx $30 each. We use it for one of our cats that developed behavior problems (aggression, wetting) and it has worked wonders.

4. You can find it on Amazon.com or ebay
We bought our last batch on eBay. Was a bit cheaper to buy 3 that way. I think you can get it at many vet offices too. Our vet is the one who recommended it.

6. The only thing that worked for us was not leaving out the clothes basket.
Our cat did that from the very beginning. He'll also pee on any clothing item left on the floor. Once they start something like that it's very hard to get them to stop. He doesn't do it anywhere else. I bought hampers with lids, and I put away the clothes as soon as they come out of the dryer, instituted a strict no clothes on the floor not even for a second policy, and we haven't had a problem since. I hope you're able to work it out. I can remember issues when we had our first baby, but they eventually worked out

7. Tin Foil
The cure for everything.

Put tinfoil over the basket. We put it across sections of across the floor around the catbox after trying many different things, per something we found on the Internets. Cats don't like tinfoil or plastic wrap.

9. Close the door...
...or remove the basket to where kitty can't reach it.

It may come to confining the cat to one room with a litter box, then gradually opening more and more space to her. Form the good habit, and allow little or no leeway for the bad.

11. Cats being naughty
I also recommend Feliway. One of my cats was urinating on one of our sofas. I was desperate and then found Feliway. It has worked wonders --- no more problems. I buy mine from EntirelyPets.com.

12. Feliway works wonders
but don't use it near the litter box. Also you can try some Cat Attract litter until the kitty is back to using only the litter box. Both can be found at PetSmart, PetCo and many pet supply places.

15. I think if you pee on it first
the kitty will recognize that that's your territory.

Glad I could help. :hi:
