TurboTax just accepted our return! Ask me anything!
Yes, we've barely squeaked by this year, but we're filed.

Evidently, Intuit is having significant problems with e-filing this year. Luckily (knock on wood,) we're not two of them.

I think I need a drink.

Ah, a drink sounds good!

What're you having?

4. My dear CaliforniaPeggy!
I keep forgetting that I am so old now, drinking keeps me awake! :scared:

If I was drinking, though, it would be Cosmopolitans for everyone.

:toast:

I hope things are going well in beautiful CA!

2. How many times did you have to hit the submit button?
After a couple hours of getting server errors every time I tried to e-file -- and with time running out -- I printed out a return to mail. Fortunately I live a mile from a 24-hour post office, so I wasn't as incovenienced as others might be. But I'm  at Intuit right now. Their forums are burning up.

5. You know, I almost posted over there
but I figured they would hunt me down ;-).

>After a couple hours of getting server errors every time I tried to e-file -- and with time running out -- I printed out a return to mail.<

I am so sorry to read this. Evidently, the IRS says they're aware of the problem, but are they going to forgive those who will be late e-filing as a result?

Believe it or not, we tried off and on for about fifteen minutes. The return submitted when I hit the button fairly quickly after the last try. To say I was amazed was an understatement. I think part of it may have been that we tried shortly after 10 PM Pacific; DH and I were speculating that the East Coast and Midwest had already filed and/or given up.

This is the latest we've ever submitted our tax return with e-file. Typically, we submit ours in early February, but this year, I was running WAAAY behind.

I hope it goes better next year. I'm also sorry you had to make the trek to the 24 hour post office.

3. Did you owe, or are you owed? I e-filed too, but no problems... I was CLOSE to the last
minute, but not quite last minute. Looks like that might have helped.

6. We are owed
I'm thinking that Intuit and the IRS are going to offer some kind of benefit if one files early next year...

7. Intuit *does* offer a benefit to file early
At least on the web version of Turbo Tax. I considered using the web version rather than the desktop version I was used to when I got a coupon back in Jan. that brought the price down to around $20, including the electronic filing fee! But then all their web prices went up on April 1, so I went ahead and bought the CD.

So, note to self: if you ever decide to prepare your taxes at Intuit's web site, do it before the end of March, and never pay full price.

And get a load of this quote from Intuit regarding the server issue: "Don't wait until the last minute is the moral of the story" said Harry Pforzheimer, Intuit Spokesman.
:nuke: :grr: This is their public relations dude?? Good advice to hear from your mother, but wrong thing to say to your customers.

8. Yeah, what the hell... part of the entire appeal of Turbo Tax is that, among other things,
it greatly facilitates the process of doing it at the last minute.
