Some of the parents I'm dealing with need a lesson in manners.

:grr: :mad: Yes, it's a bad day---can you tell? :P This has happened occasionally before, but I just had a mom and dad without an appointment barge right into my office and sit down in front of my desk without asking if it's OK to come in. This time of year is exceedingly busy, and I was right in the middle of a phone call with ANOTHER parent. I had to ask them to please wait in the hall because I was on the phone. DUH!!!!! :nuke:

I wonder if they'd do that to a doctor. :shrug:

I understand people are concerned about their kids- but I'm not the enemy. I didn't go to school to get a job being mean to kids and lying about them. :eyes:

6. I hear you, NWC. It can be really frustrating.

I usually work back office at my medical clinic. You know, taking blood pressure and pulse, drawing blood, etc. On the rare occasions when I have to work front office (scheduling, phones, etc.) it can be a nightmare. Lots of bad mannered people (who don't use their phone voices, either! ) slow-talkers, fast-talkers, impatient druggies (they know we need up to 48 hours to refill their prescriptions, but call two minutes after we receive the fax from the pharmacy anyway.) and the ones who always wait until two days after they've run out of meds to call in the refill. Then they DEMAND to see the doctor so they can get an emergency refill. (We work by appointment only and are always a week to ten days out on available appointments.)
I fielded a call from a guy one time who insisted that if we didn't fill his Xanax scrip THAT DAY, he was going to go into seizures. I was trying so hard not to laugh that I was unable to point out to him that Xanax is not for controlling seizures. But he knew that anyway. :eyes:

And it's not like I don't sympathize. We're talking about people who are in pain, etc. But we're public health; we're understaffed, underfunded and overworked. We've got limitations.
