Tax Day 2007 and the Federal Government remains in the 20th Century.

NJ allows for free electronic filing of Automatic Extensions at the NJ Divison of Taxation website.

The IRS does not provide any such capability. True, they have a partnership with private companies, and some of those will provide free extension filing, and in many cases, even free electronic filing of returns, but a simple electronic submission on their own website of their simplest form? No.

Stone Age, pure Stone Age.

Um, can you tell I haven't filed yet?

It's okay, though; I did find a site that suits, and everything is hunky-dory. :)

2. Quite so.
One outfit I looked at wanted $39.95 for the service of transmitting a 4868. Outrageous, but there are people out there who will pay it. :(

3. You are right.
I did a paper return and mailed it the 20th century way. I received my refund in about three weeks.

I refuse to pay to file my tax return.

4. Anyone know of an online state tax estimator?
I filed for a Fed extension and I'll be getting a refund but it's state that I always owe.

Trying to find out if I owe any so I can pay them tonight.

Thanks!
