West Wing video reminder - Jeb's response to an attack on a college campus
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZ93vgYledc

Why is it that I can't watch the dimson's speech and went looking for this one?

A television character that inspires and reminds me of the greatness we have inside of us versus the acting leader's abuse and misuse of the moment to try to gain points in the polls and to "use" the tragedy for some sick political gain.

2. Same here.
Although I thought John Edwards' response was heartfelt and, well, presidential.

But then, this wouldn't exactly be the first time I wished Bartlet was my president. ;)

I actually met Martin a few weeks ago. He's even more funny and genuine in person.

23. Hahaha, well
I hear if you head to Los Alamos, NM you have a fairly decent shot!

I met him at a Writer's Guild event honoring John Wells. I am sad to report that I can no longer despise John Wells, much though I may want to...turns out he's a really great human being, lol.

I've been fairly lucky in the "meeting West Wing alumn" category...Allison Janney, Bradley Whitford, Janel Maloney, Aaron Sorkin, John Wells, & Martin Sheen. No luck on Richard Schiff or Rob Lowe yet though, dang it!

I actually love him on that show (Brothers & Sisters). He's a republican, kinda the way Vinick was a republican.

In other words, not really! LOL

27. LOL, I think they wrote his character hoping that other Republicans
would get the message, time to be a person of character rather than a character of politics.

Oh yeah, and genuine human feelings.

17. Yes, I must concede that when I heard about *'s visit
My mind flashed back to that scene on the West Wing and thinking (although not for the first time) that I wish we had a Jed Bartlett as President. I actually have that link on my list of YouTube bookmarks -I've listened to it again and again and have never failed to be profooundly moved and touched by that speech.

I also thought of Clinton's address to the Oklahoma bombing victims
http://www.americanrhetoric.com/speeches/wjcoklahomabombingspeech.htm

What I wouldn't give to have a real President in the White House

18. Actually it was another YouTube link of the same speech that I have bookmarked
I only mention it because on the link that I have, someone wrote in the comments secion
"Why can't Bush hire Aaron Sorkin for just one speech?"

31. great, now another version of that song
I already put the Boomtown Rats into heavy rotation the last two days. it's a little obvious for Sorkin though.

The silicon chip inside her head
Gets switched to overload.
And nobody's gonna go to school today,
She's going to make them stay at home.
And daddy doesn't understand it,
He always said she was as good as gold.
And he can see no reason
'Cause there are no reasons
What reason do you need to be shown?

Tell me why?
I don't like Mondays.
Tell me why?
I don't like Mondays.
Tell me why?
I don't like Mondays.
I want to shoot
The whole day down.

The telex machine is kept so clean
As it types to a waiting world.
And mother feels so shocked,
Father's world is rocked,
And their thoughts turn to
Their own little girl.
Sweet 16 ain't so peachy keen,
No, it ain't so neat to admit defeat.
They can see no reasons
'Cause there are no reasons
What reason do you need to be shown?

Tell me why?
I don't like Mondays.
Tell me why?
I don't like Mondays.
Tell me why?
I don't like Mondays.
I want to shoot
The whole day down.

All the playing's stopped in the playground now
She wants to play with her toys a while.
And school's out early and soon we'll be learning
And the lesson today is how to die.
And then the bullhorn crackles,
And the captain crackles,
With the problems and the how's and why's.
And he can see no reasons
'Cause there are no reasons
What reason do you need to die?

Tell me why?
I don't like Mondays.
Tell me why?
I don't like Mondays.
Tell me why?
I don't like Mondays.
I want to shoot
The whole day down.
