1. I once dated a guy 3 inches shorter than me. At first, it was weird,
I must admit, but after awhile, it was no big deal. (And the difference in height was not the reason we broke up; we just moved on.)

4. i had a friend that tall, it wouldn't work out fine for me, yikes, that hurts to think about
Edited on Tue Apr-17-07 02:59 AM by pitohui
it was painful for me to even have a long conversation with him if we were standing, because of having to look up so hard, i mean an actual physical pain in the neck, he's a doctor and a great catch for his wife but i don't think a man that much taller would work for me, no way!

the tall are just going to have to mate with ea. other as far as i'm concerned, there are certainly no shortage of tall people these days, when i'm around young people, i feel like i'm in a herd of damn giraffes

because i am VERY short i have only dated one man (japanese) who was noticeably shorter than i, but it certainly worked out better comfort-wise than a very tall individual -- we didn't last long because of class (he was quite wealthy) and race issues (family didn't approve that he dated white girls) not because of his height

30. That goes for me too, pretty damned exactly too.
And it isn't like I pass on taller women to date short ones or anything--it's just been how things have worked out.

I've had "flings" with women up to about 5'11" but they never really wanted to make it a relationship--for a variety of reasons.

6. Any

Not a factor. Few or no arbitrary measures ever could be, I think.

The first woman I had a real romantic relationship with was 5' 10". The second was pretty petite, right around 5' (maybe a little less vertical, even). No logistical difficulties and no height-related issues in my mind regarding either woman. Yes, I did feel especially conscious of my size (body size, you dirty-minded reprobates) with the more petite woman, but that's always more a factor in my mind than in reality (regardless of the woman's physical habitus) and I did not, in fact, end up crushing her to death. Women are much stronger and robust, physically, than we often tend to think they are. :-)

I've met some incredibly beautiful tall women lately -- 5' 10" to 6', mostly (and there must be a ton of such women running around in Brazil, I have to say :loveya: ) -- and there is no doubt that these women are very striking in any surroundings. But I have also met some exquisitely beautiful women who were of a stature that made some of our embraces a tad scandalous, and they were every bit the equal in my eyes -- we're talking aesthetics here, because it's not like I get to know most of these people well -- of the leggy supermodel types.

Tall, not-tall...I love 'em all. :D

My life could be eerily like a '60s Elvis movie if I actually plucked up the nerve to ask one of these women out. But, hey, in real life the real Elvis had his minions ask out women on his behalf, anyway... :P

14. You'd have to say "any", dude.
You're freaking tall! Not a lot of women could match you!

Maybe you need an entourage like Elvis to ply you with the dames. :D

7. Tall men intimidate me.
They often enjoy intimidating others, which I find reprehensible. I used to date them. No more. I feel much more equal with my five foot eight sweetie.
I'm five foot three.

My ex is six foot seven, and our daughter is five foot three. But built like a stringbean like Dad. So she looks tall. Genetics sure is interesting.

8. I'm 6'5"
and don't enjoy intimidating others. My height and breadth can come in handy when intimidation is called for -- in my job, when drunks and obnoxious pigs are about, it is sometimes necessary on my own behalf or on the behalf of others around me (the reality is that I am still probably not that intimidating to most but as soon as I put a hand on the offender and they feel what's there -- over 20 years of martial arts experience, a fact that has nothing to do with my size -- they back down quickly) -- but I and most of the men my height that I know are pretty much naturally in the 'gentle giant' mode.

I'd submit that saying tall men often enjoy intimidating others, though understandable if you had such experiences with men you chose to date (in which case I'd further posit that perhaps it wasn't their physical height that made the intimidation so common but that their behavior was related to some other character-linked trait that you found initially appealing), would be akin to me coming in to this thread and quoting lines from Randy Newman's "Short People."

I've been in relationships with people my size, as well as one man who was 7" shorter than myself. As I get older, somebody a few inches taller than me is appealing.

18. Not a huge factor.
I like men a little taller usually, but not the hugest deal. My husband is 2 inches taller than me. My ex-husband was 3 inches taller than me. I've dated men who were anywhere from my height to a foot taller. One set of my grandparents were like you though- she was 4'11", he was 6'4".

20. Everybody is taller than me!
I am 5 feet exactly. We have to marry tall to stop the generational shrinking in the family! A funny couple is my younger sister who is 4 feet 9 and her very stocky hubby who is 6 ft 2. Mutt and Jeff!

31. I'm 6'2" and have dated women from a claimed 5'0' (she was really about 4'10" or 4'11") to 6'5".
That 6'5" girl was a stunning, leggy model-type from Germany. Hard to get along with her, but I sure miss her "company." Best looking girl I've ever seen in person, much less dated.

32. I don't date guys more than an inch or 2 taller than me!
I have a weird thing about liking 'boys' not 'men' and NO not in a creepy way. I am 5 foot 6ish and average build but I don't like to date guys much bigger than that in height or width.

It's kind of a weird equality thing I have...like what lioness was saying somewhere else about power relations regarding money and age, like that but they gotta be the same size as me!

Generally 'men' sized men intimidate me i think.

34. My Dad's 6'4" and my Mom's 5'0".
I don't think I've ever discriminated on the basis of height (I'm 5'10"), but from a STRICTLY physical standpoint, I've always been attracted to men a few inches taller than me.
