Sometimes I get so frustrated with myself...
You all know my strengths, how much empathy I have for you...

The kind word and all the support I can muster for you....

How close I feel to you......how much love I have for my friends here...

But somedays, I just blunder around and end up in threads I have no business in...

There are so many things that I know nothing about...music, the TV culture, and like that...

Sometimes I feel like such a fool!

It's hard to deal with.......

10. Same here.
What I know is extensive, but usually hangs in the intellectual/geek end of the spectrum. Most mainstream television is a turn-off for me. Though there are exceptions.... Have you ever seen "Roseanne"? At least the first four and a half seasons? That's worth knowing... :D

Oh, and the Doctor Who story "The Caves of Androzani"... it helps the emotional impact if you'd watched many stories of the era, but it holds up eminently well on its own...

25. Better to stumble upon a thread
that one finds oneself a little over-one's head (we all do that),

than stumble upon a thread in which you are the target of ridicule.

Had that joy this week. Thankfully I missed it while it was active - and it was locked even without my "alerting" (as I didn't see it until days later.) But it was kind of funny to watch the author play "victim of unfair lock" :eyes:

The lounge is mostly fun and benign - but sometimes... well... it is interesting.

33. Feh. You gotta learn to ENJOY being culturally oblivious. Because from the little I've seen,
popular culture in this country right now is NOT something you'd want to be proud of knowing.

Of course, it never may have been, but sometimes I think that Mrs R and I are the only ones who have NEVER seen "American Idol" on the TV, and likely will never do so. Nor "Lost," nor "Survivor," nor any other of those other shows that seem to consume people's lives.

We don't listen to pop radio, either. We read. We talk to each other, and our kids. She's actually thinking about joining DU, because she likes quite a few of DUers (and you specifically)...she's been sitting next to me and watching as I post quite a lot recently, and is really getting to understand how this community works.

I'm all about the blunder. What I hate is people that call it out in a mean spirited way. Goodness, we are all flawed humans.

Sometimes I read something, and it makes me feel like I'm the only person not invited to the party. I am totally clueless. Some days it bothers me and I limit my time, other days I let if roll off.

Here's a big .

I always look for you when I come in here, because you're smart, kind, and supportive.
