Queer Eye has made the cover of "Entertainment Weekly".
Is it that much of a hit?

Its the cover story of a fairly mainstream showbiz mag. ..the fab five on the cover...

...gee whiz!

1. Just goes to show where the U.S. media is...
By the way, I think it's a stupid show.

2. It's intriguing to people, and fits the stereotype . . .
. . . that gay men are more into fashion, food, design, etc.

It's entertaining, but I worry that it further "defines" gayness in the minds of straight people.

3. I was thinking the same thing
This show strikes me, the way it would have struck some Blacks if in the 50s they had a show where blacks showed up to teach whites how to dance and fry chicken.

4. Ha! Yes.
I think you're right!

I suppose it could be worse. At least now on TV we aren't all depicted as pedophiles or crazed murderers.

6. Meanwhile, back in the Hall of Exquisite Consumerism...
It's got a few laughs, but the basic premise is turning straight guys into higher-level consumers (how many jokes about takeout pizza and Gap clothing can there be in the universe???) It's thus a pretty clever tool for kicking all that straight-boy disposable income into better furniture and skin care products, but that's pretty much all it is.
