Was it a dreamy girl or guy? A wonderful job opportunity that you felt was absolutely PERFECT for you? Was it some cruicial lab results from the doctor that would inform you how sick you were? Was it good news from your agent or bad news from your lawyer? Did it involve a friend, a parent, a child? Or even a celebrity or a poltician?
I'm going through my own personal crisis here, but rather than spill all the excrutiating details right away, I'd like to hear some DU'ers share their own experiences. After all, misery loves company.
EDIT: OK, I'll share my story. It's only been about 9 days, but it sure has FELT like an eternity.
I'm waiting at the final stage of getting a job--a really AWESOME job. Carnival Cruises is set to hire me as a sax/clarinet/flutist for the summer, which means I'd spend 4 months in the Carribean, travelling, making money, and working on my tan. I once before tried for a job like this and didn't get it because my flute skills were rusty, so I was overjoyed when after my audition a month ago, the head of the entertainment department said he'd put me on one of Carnival's 21 ships...as soon as my paperwork goes through
So it's been 9 days of waiting, hoping, PRAYING that one of these days that my medical forms and application are finally processed, because my deepest fear is that when it's all finally done, I'll get a phone call saying all 21 alto sax slots for the summer are completely full. As a grad student, I can't work any later than August 31st, and as for May--it's coming up very soon.
THIS is what an eternity feels like--an eternity wating for my phone to ring.
