4. sorry
didn't see the earlier thread at the top of the Lounge, and I figured his death would necessarily be the most commented-on thread here.

2. Anybody who has read Slaughterhouse Five...
knows that death really happens in the middle and quite often.

8. One of my favorites of Vonnegut is "Galapagos"
This is one of my favorite Vonnegut books. It takes place a million years in the future...as the (now) fishlike inhabitants of Earth look back at the 1980's...and talk about the humans and their "big brains" and how it it got them into trouble. Wonderful book and terrific writing from Vonnegut.

10. I loved all his stuff
but a weird personal favorite was Slapstick. I think I've read that more times than Cat's Cradle, my "official" favorite.

12. "Slapstick" is my favorite as well.
I still remember vividly his description of his horse Budweiser being disemboweled by intense gravity and the tiny Chinese men.

Hi ho!

15. Vonnegut himself
rated "Slapstick" his worst book.

We should all be so lucky as to have something that good be the worst thing we produce.

...when our descendants are small, semi-aquatic, fur-covered mammals, is that we still find fart jokes to be endlessly hilarious.
