I FINALLY finished the mural I've been working on! (dial-up warning)
I've been working on it since the beginning of February. Finished up today!:bounce:
This was done in the children's section of a local library.

3. That's very cool!
Those kids are lucky. I know when I was a kid that something like that would have sparked my imagination and made me just about spastic every time I got to go to the library.

4. Now I gotta repeat....THOSE BOOKS LOOK REAL!
yada yada yada...you are a very good artist...and hope you have a reading time for the kids...since your artwork seems to appeal to the kiddies?

:hi: Actually if your looking at the two big book shelves -- they are -- real, I mean. I had to paint around the built in bookshelves.I painted some faux books on the register.

I don't work there, so I don't do any reading -- I did, however, enjoy painting while the kids were hanging in the library. They got a charge out of the funny lady up on the scaffold painting dragons. One two year old didn't notice me for quite a while -- when she looked up and saw me she started to cry, and her mama had to take her out.

is just something to make the entire thing interesting ...and you have succeeded...kids will flock to this 'library/bookstore'...I do not know if it is public or private,..but your artwork is supreme!

25. It's a public library
I am very fortunate. The library applied for a NY state Arts Council grant, and gave me the job. I had carte blanc and could design this any way I wanted, as long as it was a dragon theme.

It was a truly awesome experience.

They are going to write for another grant next year and give me another wall.

Thank you, so much!!!

26. I did that once about 10 years ago
On a wall outside my daughters 6th grade classroom. It was an art project that they coordinated with a trip to Gloucester, Mass for a whale watch excursion. We painted an under the sea mural on a 50' long wall including all kinds of sea life.

A few kids helped by doing some color blocking. It gives them an opportunity to be a part of it, which means so much to them.

Lucky kids- what a great environment you've given them where they can explore the 'written' world. BTW, is that a Bergen County Dragon? I hear they're very literate...and rumoured to be quite partial to artistic ladies. :)

34. It's in Byron Bergen -- a little west of Chili.
At a place called the Gillam-Grant center. Have you ever heard of it? It is at a community center that has a satellite library that is part of the Rochester library system.

I worked off of a NY State grant.
