Let us now praise obsolete protein bars

I used to love this particular chocolate-raspberry bar that came in foil packages (a few places carried them...the last place I saw them was at Vitamin World, maybe a decade ago). I can't remember the brand, but the Odwalla equivalent was also good and I haven't seen them in as many years (that flavor, I mean: Odwalla's still around, but they seem as obsessed with peanut butter and other crap as most protein bar purveyors are).

The one I really miss are Whole Foods' store-brand bars (the name temporarily escapes me) in the chocolate-chocolate-chip flavor. About as good for me as a Clif bar -- I like high fiber -- but the tastiest bars on the planet. perfect. And those granola-munching captialist bastards at Whole Foods seem to have done away with them...I've scoured the stores in SoCal for them, to no avail, since returning to the US in 2004. I occasionally check here in Nevada, too, just to see if they've come to their senses and brought those bars back. They were heaven, and a good meal replacement. They were the best thing Whole Foods sold, dammit...

i loved it when they came out with the dark chocolate mint flavored bar.

i avoid them now though, because of the sugar. you should develop a protein bar containing espresso beans and dark chocolate. ;) :hi: :loveya:

i am sorry Forrest. If i ever run across them i'll grab some for you.

2. Take one and call me in the morning...

Or at any time during the night, 'cos you'll be up all night if you take this on. :D

I like the mint chocolate Clif, too. My favorite used to be the chocolate chip, probably, but then they came out with my current standard (chocolate brownie...the one with chocolate and almonds is good, too) and the yummy chocolate-orange (also obsolete, I think) and mint-chocolate ones. Yum. :-)

I shared some chocolate brownie Clifs with a British film crew that worked with me and they all spat them out in disgust....I couldn't feel too bad, though, 'cos it's hard to place a lot of confidence in the gustatory prowess of the British palate. :D
:loveya: :*
