I made cookies
It's gray and rainy and cold and blah here...so to chase some of the blah away I made spring-y cookies. :)

Aren't they pretty? :)

1. They're beauteeful! What a great bunny face! My nieces would love it.
God is spitting on us here, too.

If I bake, I'll eat. So instead, I think I'll slop paint on something. Haven't eaten paint in a long time.

:hi:

2. I did pretty good...
Edited on Sat Apr-07-07 03:26 PM by VelmaD
in terms of not eating as I went. I had one cookie get broken so I ate it. And I had about 1 cookie worth of dough left over at the end that I ate. (Nothing in the whole world is better than raw cookie dough...except maybe cake batter.) Some of them are going to GOPisEvil. Most of them are going to the best friend's house. And any leftovers are going to work on Monday. I figure I can foist most of the calories off onto other people

4. I was evil over the winter holidays
I probably made over 20 different kinds of cookies and fudge and whatnot. Sent out care packages in the mail. Took some to work. Gave some away to friends here in Austin. Gave some to my family and their neighbors. Bwahahahahahahahah!!!!!

5. Your friends better pack bread crumbs.

My dear friend Laurie, now ten years gone, once said, "That's not baking, that's art!" And I felt so guilty because I KNEW HOW EVIL I WAS BEING.

I'm sorry, Laurie!

lol

6. I figure given the joy...
Edited on Sat Apr-07-07 03:39 PM by VelmaD
most people seem to get out of homemade goodies...that it makes up for at least some of the evil. I've never given someone homemade baked stuff who didn't smile. :)

Plus, my best friend has serious health problems and is on multiple meds that all make her sick to her stomach. Sometimes, the only thing she can keep in her stomach is my homemade ginger cookies. I figure as long as I keep making those for her when she really needs them...my karma is balanced for all the excess calories. :)

I'm sorry about your friend. I bet she really enjoyed your "art". :)

9. Laurie was cool. She was a recovered addict and a great counselor
at the Haight Ashbury Clinic and that is not picnic. Laurie could call anyone out on their bs and the called out guy would be grateful. Even me.

Our sons went through rehab together and we found out we were neighbors by accident. I still talk and bitch to her nearly every day. She was a piece of work.

I lost about 60 lbs last year (how I gained 60 lbs, I still don't really know). After this healthy weight is stable for some months, I really must engage in overt evil again because the house smells so good and because people are so trusting. lol

Ginger. That makes sense. I learned how to make low fat/sodium blue corn tamales for my mom when her blood pressure became a problem. It was fun tweaking the recipe. Okay, it didn't have that evil kick, but they were pretty. :)

11. W00t!
BTW, I'm not the one who lost the 60 lbs - that's sfexpat. I'm the one who lost over 100 lbs between 2002 and the present. :)

Get that milk over here and we can work on me gaining some of it back. :)

15. Yum. Miz t. made brownies. For tomorrow.
Easter lunch for 22 at last count.
Keeps going up.
"Can you squeeze in ONE more? We didn't know Jonathan was coming home from college for Easter."
Um...yeah, sure. More the merrier.
He may have to eat at the table we've now had to set up in the damn GARAGE.
I'll be glad when tomorrow evening comes.

20. We may have to install ceiling straps. Small rant/vent:
I much prefer smaller get togethers.
3 or 4 couples.
You can talk to people.
Carry on a conversation.

For reasons I can't discern, Miz t. likes cattle calls.
HUGE crowds.
Maybe it the Cajun/tribal/y'all-ALL-come-over thang.
I dunno.

In a crowd like that I have time to say "Hi" and that's about it.
I spend most of the time tending bar.
At least tomorrow one is bringing Bloody Marys and one is bringing Mimosas.
But I'll still have to organize a bar and pour.
Bother.

I like "You know where the bar is. Please help yourself."

I'm gonna be a bum tonight. It's still cold and rainy and blah and I'm either gonna watch the annual showing of The Ten Commandments or put in a movie with lots of explosions...I haven't decided which yet. :)

24. it's only fair
The best friend is making brisket tomorrow for dinner...and has even been making noise about doing a small ham for me and her since that's what she and I would really like. My job is to do one of the desserts and to make homemade cornbread right before dinner.

They're easy easy to make...recipe has been in the family forever. The fun part is the decorating. I went out this morning and bought some new cookie cutters to add to what I already had. And I got the little sugar-stencil thingies. My best friend has been running herself into the ground with her business and I'm hoping that the bright colors and pretty makes her smile. :)
