Last night I went into Safeway about 12:45, they close at 1:00am. I needed some hot wings and a coke to help me scan film. Two college girls were in line in front of me and after they checked out they ambled towards the door. I'm not sure you've ever noticed but young people don't walk, they don't really take steps anymore, they sort of shuffle.
As I finished checking out they were still on the way to the door. We reached the door together and they had barricaded it with shopping baskets and locked it. One girl said the the other, "this ain't right" I looked at them and said, "I've seen stuff like this in monster movies"
One of the girls laughed and the other said, "Don't freak me out like that" All three of us turned and walked back into the main part of the store. It was completely empty, no one anywhere.
As we looked around a person came up from the back of the store and asked, "can I help you?" I said, "the doors are locked and we can't get out". The person, I say person because it was one of those creepy looking night workers and couldn't really see them in the darkened aisle, "I know, we lock the doors at 1:00am"
I looked at them and said, "you mean we can't leave?". She looked at me funny and I turned to the two college girls and said, "I told you they were zombies." The girl who had laughed earlier turned pale and the one who was "freaked out" started biting her lower lip.
