Kerouac fans--I need help finding a picture
There is a picture of Kerouac where he is wearing a hat kind of like this one without the "Fishing" label

The picture is straight on and he is by a brick wall. His shirt is kind of untucked.

If this rings any bells and someone can tell me where to find this picture (online or in a book) I would be so damn grateful. It was kind of a running joke between me and a friend who recently died and I can't find my copy of the picture that I know is in a file somwhere.

5. I went through
about 25 pages of Google images and that's the one I finally found. I did find one of him looking straight ahead but it was stricly a head shot with a captain's style hat on.

7. Thanks
for knowing the picture and being willing to look through your stuff to find it. I appreciate it. Plus it's good to know there are other Kerouac fans out there that know what I know.

Thanks again.

6. You are AWESOME!
Thank you. I looked through a lot of google pages, too, but guess I didn't have the stamina. I saw lots of the captain's hat picture you were talking about, too.

This means A LOT to me. I'll give you the short story because I am so damn happy. My friend died a couple weeks ago at the age of 35. I knew him when I was a grad student coaching college debate. He kind of looks like Jack in that picture. Plus, the friend who died, another friend, and I all had hats like that (before we saw that picture) which we wore when we got together to play video games. We called them our Mario hats. So we had that picture blown up and put on the debate room wall with the caption "Kerouac and his Mario Hat." After my friend died, his brother asked me to send him some memories and I really wanted to include this picture.

Thank you SO much.

10. You're welcome.
I'm glad it's the right picture and glad I could help. It's nice to preserve good memories of those loved ones who have passed away. As long as someone loves and remembers them, they stay with us.

9. In October I took my son out to Northport
Long Island on our way to Jackson Pollack's home. My middle son has loved Kerouac since he was 16. The place is beautiful but much more upscale than it was when he and his mother lived there in the late 50's early 60's. I've traced much of Kerouac's footprints as possible. When my 3 boys were younger we lived in Phoenix and one summer I put them all in the car and drove up to San Francisco on Hwy 1 - something I always wanted to do. When we got to SF, I headed straight for City Lights Bookstore and told the boys all about the beats. They were just kids and I didn't think they thought much about it, but they still talk about that place as one of the best things they ever did. Isn't that funny?

11. My cousin grew up north of San Francisco,
and became a lawyer, married a lawyer, moved to the east, had two sons. When the older son was in high school, about ten years ago, he came out to visit the California relatives and his first request was to go to City Lights Bookstore. He was interested in Kerouac, Ferlinghetti, and other beat writers, and loved the bookstore.

How old is your middle son now?
