I need advice on criteria for "alterting" on someone....

2. I almost alerted on someone today

However I dealt with it.

I sometimes alert when folks are heading towards a flamewar.

I do it with suspect freepers too.

I can go weeks without alerting but then I can do 5 in one day.

The mods will sort it out. If a rule's been broken, the comment will go away.

A post that's a personal attack, a sweeping negative generalization, calling out--those are worth alerting on.

Also, if someone posts using racist/sexist/homophobic/prejudiced remarks, they should be alerted on.

Feel free to PM me if there's something more specific you'd like to ask and don't feel comfortable doing it on the board.

If they directly call you or someone else on this board, a name. If they directly call a Democratic candidate a name or make an unfounded allegation about them. Or if they are homophobic, racist, etc. If they are a pedophile or rape apologist or promoter. If they threaten you or anyone else. In other words, if they are abusive in any way....Alert.
The "Help" section has a whole list of things not allowed and I often check it.
